Seriously, are you guys still whining about trading a low 3rd round pick for a serviceable CB?? You'd be lucky to draft a serviceable CB with that pick. Lucky if he even makes the team.
Like talking to a brick wall.... Did you just ignore the other posts on WHY he has declined? They changed Coach and scheme after his rookie year. He doesn’t fit their scheme and it affected his performance. He fits the Texans’ scheme. Let’s see what happens.
that is no true at all. A defensive scheme has to fit your style otherwise you could completely suck. if the Texans switched to a 4-3 for example, they couldn't even play some of their players
Did anyone catch the repeat of the Packers-Raiders game? It was on last night when I finally gave up and switched from the Astros debacle. A couple things I noticed about the Raiders and our new CB. First is, all the CBs were getting beat. It wasn't just Conley. Second, Conley got beat even when he was playing man; I don't think a change to more man coverage is an automatic fix for him. Third, Derek Carr had a lot of wide open receivers to throw to against a pretty good Packers defense. Raiders' tight end, Waller, was open a lot. He's their best receiver. Gipson and Lonnie are going to have their hands full.
Went back and looked at some of the combine stuff about him before he was drafted, zone skills was supposed to be a strength out of college, along with press coverage: Here is Lance Z from the NFL combine page:: The narrative about man coverage seems to be a bit of an after the fact rationalization, like much of the "rah rah" talk tends to be.
Yes, but when I asked for examples I was just given examples of guys who struggled as rookies. See there examples of good players who got worse because of a scheme? Not rookies
All 3 were examples. Foles was not coming off his rookie year when he hooked up with Andy Reid again. He was drafted by the Eagles and was good, then was traded the Rams after Chip Kelly took over the Eagles and sucked (He regressed under Kelly). Went to the Chiefs and was resurrected by Reid. The other 2 happened to be rookies whose scheme changed their 2nd year.
Yeah. Maybe even the rationalization started from raider nation. If zone coverage was supposed to be his strength and now has become his weakness, that isn't encouraging. What's encouraging is that he can't be worse than what the Texans have now.
The bigger question is y would raiders trade a cb to a team they about to face and not just wait b4 trade deadline.
Good question: 1. The Texans said now or never because they needed to add a CB immediately; and the Raiders couldn't say no to an offer that probably no other team would make. OR 2. The Raiders didn't care about the timing and about playing him this week. They just liked the offer too much. OR 3. The Raiders forgot that they are facing the Texans this week OR 4. The Raiders think this actually weakens the Texans, their next opponent OR 5. The Raiders are low-key tanking and accumulating picks. They don't care if they lose games.
He looks/sounds lethargic. Maybe even a little IDGAF! (I KNOW looks/sounds can be deceiving) Just what we need, a starting cornerback full of slow-twitch fibers (& mentality). LOL and "cringe" at the remark "press coverage is all I do". Even the most press-heavy teams are only around 50% or so. What about the OTHER 50% of the snaps dude? I know contract plays an issue but if we could have gotten CHJ for a 2nd instead of this guy for a 3rd I am fu**^&$ pissed!!!
