    Bears overpaid for Mack. However:
Mack has played 94 games vs 75 for Clowney.
    Mack has 61 sacks vs Clowney’s 32
    398 Tackles vs 236.
4 of Mack’s seasons are double digits sack totals vs 0 for Clowney.
20 Forced fumbles vs 8 for Clowney.
Imagine if Mack was opposite JJ Watt during his career.

Never said Mack wasn’t a better player. Clowney biggest advantage is his run defense. Easily one of the best defensive ends in stopping the run. All I was saying is it’s the worst trade ever made cuz if he walked away in the off-season we still get a 3rd round pick. You don’t think he coulda helped in playoffs last year??

Helped? Sure. He doesn’t play DB, which injuries and inexperience killed them against KC. Gaeron Conley and Jacob Martin will be more important than the 3rd round pick the Texans would have gotten by just letting Clowney walk. Based on his Free Agency this season, Clowney’s value is probably around $12-$14 million and that’s why the Texans were not getting more than they got.

Mack is a way better player the Clowney. You can be a Pro Bowler & not come close to Khalil Mack. Mack is special.

But one netted 2 first round picks and one netted nothing??? I know there is a gap but not that big of a gap. Clowney should have netted us at least 1 first rounder.

Mahomes and Williams ran for some huge first downs and tds in that game. He definitely would have helped in that aspect. We gave up 118 yards and 2 tds to their rushing attack... I expected them to pass all over us, but we had to do a better job containing the run in order to have a chance to win,

The reason Mahomes was able to run is the extra DBs and LBs committed to the pass game. They had no spy on Mahomes.

Clowney is good against the run, not necessarily the QB run.

Sorry I haven't read the entire thread...
So what exactly was the reason we traded Hopkins?

    Proud day for the Texans.

Paying Fuller 10 million this season to play 7-8 games
Paying Johnson 11-12 million to suck.
Paying Cobb 3/27 to be the best over the hill receiver in Texas.
Paying Still 7 million to be a #4
Paying Cooks 8 million hoping his brain isn’t total mush

    Yet no money for Hopkins...

What are the guaranteed money next year for these receivers?
    0 for Fuller
    0 for Stills
    0 for Cooks
    12m for Cobb in 21 2m in 22
    2m for Johnson

No one gives first rounders for run-stopping DEs. They also don’t pay the $18-$20 million a year.

Remember when we traded Hopkins for a bag of chips and a kick to the dick? Good times.

True, because no one plays the Texans 16 games a year...

David Johnson should be able to pass protect for Watson.

Hopkins didn't have much wide receiver screen capability.

Johnson might be able to run some screens here or there.

    yikes. what an article.
A month later, I’m still not sure why the Texans felt they needed David Johnson
