I like it. That catch he made against the Titans was one of the most important of the season and it was just tremendous.
Lol @people who are saying its an overpay but they don't know what the market is. $23M guaranteed is a bargin for a starting TE on a playoff team. If you want to compete against KC, Bal, Cinncy, etc. we have to pay
Wish we could've had him for 10mil a year, but can't complain really. Thought they were going to move on from him, but I'm okay with Dalton back. Just cut Wood and get some of that cap space back.
Glad to hear Schultz is staying! The chemistry between Stroud and Schultz is going to get even better in next season!! 3yr for $36mil is right in the sweet zone for a young reliable tight end!! Go Texans!!! ....... ....... .......
On John Harris' In The Lab show I recall him saying how Dalton was carrying that disappointment of not finding a contract last season but by week 8 this was his team. The Stroudie effect. What else ya got, Hannah?
For market comp, I was hoping the contract would be closer to Tyler Higbee's extension at $17M spread over 2 years. At 12 mil per year, he'd need to be a borderline pro bowler to justify, which I suppose he can play at that level with Stroud throwing him the ball.
I was just spitballing based on numbers, which is what I was admitting. After seeing he's the 11th highest paid tight end, I'm pretty happy with the value. Sorry, the original statement was made with no judgement of the deal, except to be glad he was back.
