http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ders-cut-cb-david-amerson-after-three-seasons Amerson played in and started six games for Oakland this season, recording career lows in passes defensed (4) and tackles (14) while missing most of the year with a foot injury. Amerson's release comes two days before his 2018 was fully guaranteed, per Spotrac, and the corner won't cost the Raiders anything in dead cap money. In cutting him now, the Raiders will save over $21 million in cap space over the next three seasons. Amerson doesn't figure to be unemployed for long. He's scheduled to visit with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday and is garnering interest from several other teams, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. After signing with Oakland off waivers in 2015, Amerson had a career year, totaling 53 tackles and career highs in passes defended (35) and interceptions (4), was named Pro Football Focus' Most Improved Player and earned what looked to be a $38 million extension. Two years and $13 million later, Amerson is following his former coach, Jack Del Rio, out the door.
Get him locked up right now while you can as a safety net incase free agency goes miserably and we miss out on the top CB's
This. Then go hard after Butler and/or Trumaine Johnson. Afterwards, whatever top tackle and guard available.
It's funny to see this post at the same time we have someone b****ing about signing CJ Fiedorowicz to an extension given that last season Amerson suffered his 3rd concussion in 13 months before then missing the rest of the season with a foot injury.
Texans are good at developing dbs that are late round to undrafted. I’m expecting more from Treston Decoud as well. Liked him out of college. 6’2 210. We need big physical corners now.
I'm glad that he says he's not concerned about 3 concussions in 13 months while he was in a contract year, but that doesn't mean that others shouldn't be concerned about it when looking to sign him. Same goes for a foot injury that cost him the rest of the season.
Do you consider Andre Hal developed? 4th isn't a "late round", hell, I'm not sure the 5th is even considered that.
I'm not sure, I'm not saying the premise is false, just seeking validation. 4th round definitely doesn't qualify. I'd say Hal is ok, but the Texans don't like enough to let him be a consistent starter so I doubt they'd hold him up as a shining example. I know everyone was confident to let Bouye go because of Robert Nelson, but he was a big nothing. If anything maybe Bouye was the fluke? Have the Texans developed a CB under OBrien at all? Bouye was under Kubiak and was getting rave reviews, just couldn't stay health enough to get consistent time. Didn't Vance Joseph love him though?
He has size and has had a single solid season out of 4. He admits that the fact he played video games all night contributed to his disaster in Washington. Sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree, his dad is a big deal but his son didn't seem to get any of his dad's brains.
