Has Mario been having a pro bowl worthy season? I ask this seriously. I haven't been paying much attention to him but I've heard some criticism here and there.
Numbers are down, but apparently he's still pretty feared and respected throughout the league. DE/DL are so hard to evaluate by numbers only.
i don't think there is any apparently about it. Mario's sack #s are down but he had been all around the QB all year. He may may the PB based on reputation alone.
I don't think Matt Schaub will make it. He make may it as a alternate. You don't make the Pro Bowl the first year you deserve it for whatever reason.
Only two DEs in the AFC have double digit sacks and that is Freeney and Schobel. Mathis has 9.5, and Williams would be tied with Odom(on IR), for 4th among AFC DEs. It has been a down year for Mario in both sacks and tackles, but its a down year for the position as a whole. With more and more sacks coming from 3-4 schemes where the OLBs are the pass rushing stars, DE isn't as strong as it has been in the past in terms of numbers.
Does that mean Cushing won't make it either? Interesting that the article says this is the first time Peyton has had 9 300+ yard passing games. Matt has 8 himself this year.

Rivers or Manning probably has to miss because they made the Super Bowl. That'll open up a spot. Schaub has the edge statistically on Roethlisberger but who knows.
