Why you hate Latroy Hawkins? He's by far the Astros best middle reliever. Thats not saying much but he is.

I think our wires are crossed here. My premise for removing Kubiak and spending millions and millions of dollars on a *Super Bowl winning coach* is that such a move is not the automatic slam dunk some people think it is. Your examples reinforce this view (what Super Bowls did Gruden, or Vermeil win before their jobs in Tampa and St. Louis again?). I am sure that Wayne Huizenga and Dolphins fans weren't merely hoping that Jimmy Johnson would lead the team to the playoffs- and lose 62-7 to Jaguars- and then retire because he was burned out. I am sure the Cowboys wanted more out of Bill Parcells than merely making the playoffs. I am not saying keep Kubiak at all costs, but I am saying that name coaches aren't a sure thing, either.

Please see the post immediately before yours. Or you could go to the Astros offseason thread.

Happens all the time! Apologies for any misunderstanding...

Agreed that it's no slam dunk. But history suggests that about 5/8 times there is an improvement.

The SuperBowl? *Nothing* guarantees that. Nothing.

Now, on this point we are entirely agreed.

Over and Under in wins may get as low as 70 this season.

Not because of Hawkins. Im just saying in general. Last year I think the over and under was 75. If they have a couple of Triple A guys starting at SS and 3rd base then im sure that number will drop close to 70

    Ah, that makes sense.

We'll see what the rest of the winter and spring brings.

WTF! Why do you hate Latroy? He's been the only solid setup/reliever we had for last two years and on the cheap might I add.
