We already have a heavily selective merit based immigration policy that results in a American Muslim population that has a higher percentage of degree holders with professional careers and lower crime rate than the average American.

We already have a very strict merit based immigration policy in place. A lot of things changed after 9/11. Right wing media wants to push a narrative that our immigration policy towards Muslim dominant regions hasn't changed at all since 9/11.

There is a certain hypocrisy with conservatives on this message board and in general. When a mass shooting occurs in the States by a non Islamic terrorist they often say "Don't over cover the shooting because it provides the shooter fame thus inspiring other would be terrorist shooters". Wouldn't the same thing apply here? Don't over publicize and cover these things because the leaders of these terrorist organizations want them to be broadcast all over the world for the West to fear them and inspiring other fringe would terrorists?
I think it was the liberals who wanted to drastically increase the number of Syrian refugees so that isn't status quo Their motivations are different and I don't think anyone here is promoting putting their face and name all over the news. That sort of coverage is what the VTech shooters of the world are after.
