Well, the good news is that no American politician will ever get tripped up over a question about Aleppo ever again because there likely won't be an Aleppo anymore pretty soon.

The Syrian Government recaptured the eastern part of Aleppo; it already held most of city during the course of the war.

Yeah but the war is taking its toll on the city and when Russia......I mean Assad rolls through the rest of it, I doubt it'll be pretty.

What a pointless message from Yusuf Rahmat. Thank you Russia for supporting a dictator who used chemical weapons on civilians and has purposefully targeted women and children to kill. No thanks to the USA, Britain, France, NATO, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey for opposing that murderous dictator who is guilty of using weapons of mass destruction on his own people.

Well, in fairness, they didn't do enough to oppose him, in fact, as soon as Iran and Putin told Obama that they have Bashar al-Assad's back, he ran away from the "red line in the sand" rhetoric as quickly as possible and effectively abandoned the Syrian people to be slaughtered. The best we can hope for is that those people don't blame the US for failing to act.

that statement is as accurate as WMD in Iraq. I would trust their people rather than someone that lied to commit war crime over there.

What? They've already proved that he used chemical weapons on his own population. There was an article on this bbs talking about the targeting of women and children.

Perhaps, but the administration has been sending military trainers and equipment to non-ISIS rebels opposed to Assad. That is ongoing. It may not be enough, but that depends on what folks are willing to commit to. The red line comment was a bad move on Obama's part. He shouldn't have issued the statement if he wasn't going to enforce it.

Obama was called out by Romney for not taking Russia seriously, and as a result of his miscalculation, Russia has been able to prop up the Assad regime and his coalition. Russia is the major reason that Assad has been able to keep is multi-cultural and ethnically diverse coalition together in order to fight against the nearly homogeneous radical Sunni "rebels".

That being said, staying out of these conflicts is the correct thing to do. The US has fracking, we don't need to put up with this mess.

Our resident Wahabi guy pissed at a defe
Actually they did not prove it on the chem weapons and looks like it was the rebels trying to make it look like it. Time to update your info.

However, Assad is bad (like Sadam and Gadafi) but what the US/Saudi/ Turkey.Israel/France etc did in those countries is worse creating years of brutal war that killed, maimed and exiled folks that was much more than living under the dictators despite propaganda from the western media.

Yet you have no real concerns over the ties between Trump and Russia... no real concerns over Russia influencing our election and no concern with Trump likely lifting the sanctions on Russia that have economically crippled the regime. You can't have it both ways.

Obama (and the rest of the world) has made a mess out of Syria. Assad was far from perfect, and his regime was slowly eroding Syrian quality of life; however he did keep law and order, was far more secular than most and he sure as hell wasn't as bad as the civil war that has happened.

There were multiple instances. It has been confirmed by the United Nations. That is not really a partisan group.

Calm down. I realize that things are not going the way the Saudi medieval king/dictator and his loyal fanboys want. but for the next few years your lifestyle will not change.

Oh, now everything will be okay. Sure they aren't sending any aid or doing anything that actually matters, but they turned the lights off for a bit to show "solidarity". Surely that'll save lives.
