Dealing Sengun after one year would be a mistake. No one is saying he’s untouchable, but the offer would have to be exceptional. After the promise he showed last year at only 19, I can’t wait to see the jump he’s gonna make in year two. There is no downside to keeping Sengun; he’s only gonna get more valuable. Trade Wood instead . Worry about the fit with #3 later.
If you took Banchero and that gave you a shot at Edwards or Daniels... I would pull the trigger no hesitation.
We don't even know if we're going to end up with Banchero. We don't even know what the fit with Sengun will look like day 1. We don't even know how that pairing will look once they're both at least 21 with a season or two of experience playing together. This just seems horribly premature, and on top it's not even a good trade offer for the Rockets
Trading sengun for an established player sounds reasonable. Trading sengun for a lottery pick hoping that pick is even better than sengun is foolish and weird. Waste of a year of development
We can't be treating these players like they're untouchable. Green is really the closest to untouchable that we have and any deal worth trading him for isn't coming around so it's a waste of time thinking of those trades.
Segun, has a long way to go ! If we need to trade him, do so! I only see limited talent in him so far. I have seen every Rockets Game and hope he will have the chance to develop. He will need a better coach ! Y
Sengun is great, love the guy. But if Banchero is coming, and pans out like expected, it severely limits what Sengun can be on this team.
Sengun being in trade proposals is more of a testament to his performance and potential than any kind of slight. To be honest, we have plenty of players that basically won't be traded because other teams won't have seen any value in them yet. You can't expect to get good value back for some of these other guys who are more G league players than nba players.
While Sengun is definitely not untouchable, I also wouldn't trade him for a lottery pick. It has to be for an established player and we have to be in a win-now mode. For example, if Jokic for whatever impossible reason decides he doesn't want to be in Denver anymore and Nuggets want Sengun as part of the trade, I would drive Sengun to the airport myself.
