    yes.

    Nene + Eric for Butler.

Capela + NG Contracts for Horford at a restructured rate.

I feel like we should start a thread where we can discuss realistic acquisitions rather than fantasize about acquisitions that will not happen. Is nice to dream, but I actually would like to have a real discussion of the players that we can afford and that may make us better next year.

Pretty sure there are at least two threads on MLE targets and one on minimum ones.

It's nice to dream but it's only 12 more days. I doubt Jimmy pulls a CP and opts in after indicating he would opt out but it's not unrealistic just not likely.

People pick and choose when to believe Screamin A when it supports their argument.

CP3 wants out- see I told you, Harden can't play with others
Butler might consider Houston-- pshh, BS

Butler might consider Houston- ohh this is happening

    Nene+EG make a combined $17.85 million in 19/20. Even at 125% of that, that's $22 million.

Philly can offer 5 years, $190 = $38 per year. Another team with space can offer 4 years, $141 = $35.25 per year.

To get to that level, the Rockets would have to add another $10.5 million of salary, which is more than PJ Tucker.

So if Butler takes a "huge" pay reduction or the Rockets really move on from what they have, then sure...

    But otherwise... definitely not.

This seems more likely... though, again... Al can opt into $30.1 million.

If he really valued winning and the ability to get a long-term contract, maybe he's willing to drop that $30 in 19/20 down to high teens?? But he'll probably want high teens for minimum of 3 years. If it's just 2 years, that's what he's going to end up with anyway (eg. $30 if he opts in, then his next deal maybe starting at $9), with more of it upfront. So it really depends on how much he values winning I guess.

Notwithstanding what David West did a few years ago, I don't think there's that many players willing to take HUGE paycuts just to MAYBE win a ring.

Speak for yourself. I'm expecting that our starting lineup next year will be:

    Harden
    Shumpert
    Kawhi
    Giannis
    Embiid

With Steph and Paul George off the bench. Shumpert will be Finals MVP and Morey will be Executive of the Year from making all of these utterly impossible moves.

This is based on him changing his mind and opting in. $20 million this year. We get bird rights and give him his full max next year. It's highly unlikely but CP3 informed the Clippers he was opting out and then opted in and was traded here. We could make him close to whole by giving him a three year extension next year and we could surpass what others could pay him if he wanted a 4 year next year.

....he is going to opt out... how are the Rockets going to get below the cap to the level of a max?

    Fake news.

Only way this happens if Butler opts in.

Shump is the key to a championship. That's why we gave up a 1st round pick for him.

SAS hears stuff from the players. He's not wrong that Paul probably wants out (back to LA is my guess).. you can believe the Paul part and this part also

    I see. That's fair.

Looks like Jimmy will be 30 at start of next season. CP3 was 32 at the start of the season he was traded to Rockets. So 2 years older, more desperate to win (or advance) and had already been paid a lot more close to $160 million compared to the $80 million Jimmy Butler has pulled in (all gross numbers) so far.

But if Jimmy is "guaranteed" the 5 year max... maybe.

This is honestly where I'm not knowledgeable on the subject.

I'm not sure if we can only do a 1+4 or a 1+5 which would even give him more security.

Maybe @BimaThug could answer that or @Clutch

We can give him a 5 year bird rights max next summer and super max (Lol) if he makes the all-NBA team
