Doesn't the salary melo gets from the rocket goes to the hacks to offset his buyout? I might be wrong but I was under the impression that buyout/waived players salaries arent added to their buyout/waive salaries. Perhaps @BimaThug could clarify
Odd so what the hell happens with the MLE? There ain’t crap left in the FA market and the people we’ve been linked to overseas are garbage. Rookies?
Melo is a cancer and I don't think this will work, but I am on board for trying this out considering how the offseason has gone.
Only explanation I can think of is the Rockets would prefer to get younger at the wing position. Age played a huge factor towards the end of the season with those untimely injuries.
Nothing happens to the MLE this summer. Gets saved until the trade deadline for something really enticing maybe? The goal is to cut cost. And that list of free agents left... "we will have our pick of free agents"....
Optimistic reasons, we're saving it for a buyout or a RFA that gets his qualifying offer rescinded. Pessimistic - Tilman being cheap.
Well we know about 3 teams that are still interested in him. And how is it that he "stole" his 27m? When we reach the end of CP3's deal in 4 years would you also consider it stealing 44m? These guys earned their pay at some point in their careers. Melo, almost, could have been in this exact same position a few years earlier if he would have signed with us instead of the NYK.
If he's getting waived then isn't any salary from Houston offset against what ATL owes? If so, then it doesn't make sense to take more than the minimum.
I like the fact that we still have the MLE to offer, but doesn't this hamstring our ability to give Melo a competitive offer after this season? I'm not sure any (current) free agents out there are worth more than the ability to #RunItBack next year
Explain to me how he is a cancer? Something truly factual not based of speculation or media perception? I hate the damn word so much.
