I saw this on the front page of Yahoo. One lady decided to pay the coffee for the person behind her, and the guy responded by doing the same, and so on and so on. This lasted for two hours. Tis the season for giving! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l0g34ceK3NI&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l0g34ceK3NI&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Merry Early Christmas fellow ClutchFans!
I probably would have broken the chain. Not because I am a jerk, but because I wouldn't realize there was a chain going on. I would just figure the person in front liked me for some reason.
That's the the thing. If you watch the video, the employees mentioned to the customers what was going on. The window attendant said she told the customers "Your not under any obligation, you can take your free drink or pay for the person's behind you." That means somebody said, "F--- you, give me my free drink."
Maybe the shop had to close? So how exactly did the person in front pay for the person in the back? Just leave his CC info with the store for the next transaction? I'm surprised we didn't hear about anyone taking full advantage of the situation and ordered a whole bunch. Or what if the car after someone was a van carrying a soccer team or something.. that woulda suck!
The person in back ordered and the store had their order and told the front car how much it is. That person then paid and left. Maybe that is how the chain ended, nobody was behind the last car that got a free drink.
starbucks employees aren't camera friendly....yet they usually seem so hip and cool in real life. weird.
