[Star Trek : Discovery] : New Star Trek series coming from CBS

NOPE!

The first episode was surprisingly good though. I'll just borrow the rest of the episodes from the internet.

 

I was planning on borrowing episode 2 and seeing what I thought from there.

 

Went ahead and signed up for the All Access. Episode 2 was great. This looks like it is going to be a very good series.

 

The first two episodes were very good! CBS has a winner on their hands.

 

I think that could be the case if they were actually showing the series. With it being behind a paywall I don't think enough people will even be able to see it legally to keep it going long term. When they don't get the numbers they were hoping for from the CBS streaming nonsense, they'll cut back on the show's budget and eventually cancel the series without many even noticing.

Hope to be wrong about it though.

 

First episode was just terrible.

For a show that's supposed to boldly go where no one has gone before, about 90% of it was people talking among themselves on two stationary ships.

And other than the captain, the first officer, and the science officer, the rest of the crew seems made up of extras. Did any of them have more than one line of dialogue?

Plus the saddest Klingons ever. They hid from a ship smaller than theirs, even after one of their crew was killed, and when they were threatened they used a giant flashlight to call for help.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Yet another Trek looking back in the "past" with nothing new to offer.

 

It was okay but it feels a bit female-heavy to me. I didn't hear any men on the bridge really say more than one line the whole show...except for that alien dude. It felt like the men had been subjugated to bit parts. Also, why did #1 not have the pointy ears if she's Vulcan/Human...like Spock? I guess she is human-dominant. I'm conflicted on the new Klingons and whether I like them or not. I will say it was better than I thought it would be and it held my interest.

She's supposed to be completely human, she was just raised by Vulcans.

As to the sign up and cancel, you can probably get a month and then cancel, but they are intentionally dragging the series out so that people have to keep the service for months in order to see the first season.....well legally anyway.

 

Also, I hate the name of this show. Do they really want people saying "Hey did you see the new STD?" or "How do you feel about STD?" or "I really suggest you spend the money for STD"

 

Literally everything is explained in the second episode.

 

"Did you catch the new STD?"

Sounds like a topic for South Park.

 

This bothered the hell out of me.

Trek usually has so much focus on the crew, the entire crew, the medical officer, the engineer, the Whoopi Goldberg...

And for it to focus on basically 3 characters and the rest be extras was disappointing, hopefully that's just an intro thing and now how they will go forward.

That is a fine sista. I'm familiar with Yeoh, she's in a lot of Jackie Chan movies. What have I seen the other girl in? I know her face!!
