Agree with all this. Try as I might, I'm unable to do the mental gymnastics that have us ending up with Hayward. But all that said, I imagine Morey and Co will try to keep themselves in position to be able to acquire him should he - for some very unexpected reason - express an openness towards playing here.
I think most of us think the same basically, he would help but he would not make us that much better as a team overall. But i see how some people is inclined to fall in love with players of other teams more than they should, maybe it's cause when you trade for someone and/or you don't watch him closely, you expect him to be better than what you have so you kinda rise your expectations too much. Hell, if some guys here were our gm, we would've traded a 1st for Korver, a 1st for Tucker, a 1st for Swaggy P, a 1st and Dekker for Lou Williams and so on...
Good way to think about it. Ariza - 35 min Dekker - 20 min Brewer - 16 min I'd think he takes all of Brewers, 5 of Arizas and 5 of Dekkers, or about 25 minutes. Indirect benefit is that you can probably sit Harden for 2-3 more minutes per game.
I would be very surprised if Denver takes Brewer. I personally think if we are going to make a move for Chandler, Ariza would be part of the trade. And I disagree with you - I think Chandler should be starting. Ariza is one of the most r****ded players I've ever seen and he is the bottleneck of our offense. Replacing him with a legit score in Chandler would make our offense much more dangerous.
Rockets go after needle movers like Hasheem Thabeet, Jordan Hamilton & Kevin McDaniels Jr.! Other teams go after non-needle movers! Those other teams are losers, believe me!
No offense taken because you haven't provided any evidence as to why Wilson Chandler would be a bad acquisition in any terms other than salary. I don't feel like it's relevant to discuss Robert Covington, and what I do know is that I've seen Covington play enough to know that he doesn't have the motor to play defense, is not great at creating his own space, and tends to fade out of games completely, where some nights you wonder if he is in the lineup or not. He is a dime-a-dozen player. Which is a shame, because he has the physical tools. Edit: To me the most compelling argument against the acquisition of Chandler is that a wing player is need #3 behind: #1, a rebounding big man and #2, a ball handling guard who isn't Tyler Ennis. I would rather spend money on those things.
Morey once again outsmarted himself and has strapped himself with a bunch of useless scrubs. He had Beasley who was on a minimum contract and is now scoring at a higher efficiency than Chandler. He moved Beasley for trash and now has to give up valuable assets to replace his spot. What a genius.
Since when did close ties necessarily indicate a player's intentions? Durant played his entire career with OKC, is from the D.C. area and developed a seemingly close friendship with Harden after having played with him for years. Yet he chose Golden State—where he had no obvious ties whatsoever—and neither the Wizards or the Rockets even got an interview. I honestly think that ties like that get overrated in free agency decisions. I think money and winning outweigh pretty much all other factors.
Salaries and contracts aren't just some tiny little detail. Nobody is disputing whether or not WC could help us. He's a solid player. The question, in general, is whether or not he's worth it (keeping in mind: big picture and Summer '17 free agency plans) -- and my question, more specifically, is essentially can you get something similar for a cheaper price (i.e. Covington). And it's very interesting to hear the way a lot of people are describing WC. There definitely seems to be a disparity between perception and reality. You're singing his praises and dismissing Covington as dime-a-dozen (not that I necessarily disagree), yet Chandler's +/- data is not good, he's only a career 34% three point shooter and he's notching basically 15 points on 13 shots. I realize those numbers would stand a chance to improve on our team playing alongside Harden in a stat-friendly system, but let's be real here. He's available for a reason.

He has been frustrated about coming off the bench... in sure he will start once he gets here. Ariza and his old legs need a rest.
I could see this in conjunction with another move, but I'll admit that it is a little difficult to see as an isolated trade. It fills a hole, but at a somewhat expensive price when you have guys like Thabo and Tucker probably available for KJ and a 2nd.
