Messina won't be replacing MDA. He could possibly replace Bzdelik if Bzdelek retires. Or maybe replace him anyways.

It did not sit well with the organization how Bzdelek handled his retirement at the beginning of the season, folks. He waited until Melo was on board and the team had went through a bunch of antics with Melo to convince him to give it a try with MDA/Bzdelik. Then Bzdelik waits almost two months after Melo signs and flies the coop on us at the start of training camp, leaving us in a lurch to find a replacement.

There was no one. And then the whole debacle unfolded with Melo/Bzdelik.

Bzdelik had plenty of opportunity to beg off earlier and didn't do it. And that is a large reason why we started like crap and couldn't right the ship until after December.

So make no mistake about it. We could decide to dump Bzdelik in favor of Messina. And frankly, I think it will happen. I think Bzdelik burned the bridge with Harden over the Melo situation. I think he's done.

On a side note, just for the record. I was in favor of the Melo signing. And I firmly believe right now that if we had integrated Melo properly as a small ball center that we would still be playing. We could have made other moves at the margins that would have better balanced our roster. And we might have been able to make a very significant big move. That is opportunity lost. And you can bet that Harden and Paul know it.

I personally think Bzdelik is done. And Messina is the perfect replacement with MDA. Those guys know and like each other. And Messina is a defensive guy.

Can’t see Messina leaving San Antonio for another assistant role.

What about promoting within? I think Jeff Bzdelik would do a great job.

Coaching doesn’t matter if Harden and CP3 are just going to do their thing.

Man, Mike really is the target for a lot of you huh. Its really just funny that people who dont know much and dont actually analyze stats or film just like to weigh in without having any knowledge at all.

Listen to Clutch’s podcast for his and MKs take on Mike D.

Spoiler. It’s quite a bit different from the posting of the masses.

Wouldn't any Butler scenario pretty much have to include Gordon in a trade though?

I just think about that curry allstar break video with him talking to budenholzer about harden and wanting to play different. Where there is smoke there's fire. They definitely "looking" at coaching change. Don't know if it'll happen tho.

There were a number of coaching vacancies when the Rockets were looking for a new head coach. You did not hear D'Antoni's name as a possible hire in any of them. The only place you heard his name was here from Les Alexander. What you are seeing from MDA is what you've always seen from his system - especially in the playoffs so I don't understand why anyone here would expect MDA to sudden make changes in his approach to basketball. In fact I posted last season that I fully expected him to continue doing what he has always done which he did. And I don't anticipate much in the way of change from him or Morey in the next NBA campaign.

A strong coach, with the backing of ownership, could fix 90% of our issues.

You dont know anything about his Suns days which were with injury and Robert Horry. Go back and take a nuanced look man.

DAJ ain’t what he used to be, but I’m open

I still believe if the coaching situation heats up MDA will “retire”
