    I believe in spirts and all that so I don't rule it out but this sounds like a dream and he might have tried to contact you for a reason. I say go to church, talk to a priest and possibly talk to his family for some clarification on his death.

    I recently moved into a new apartment, and there was this switch on the wall that didn't do anything...so anytime I had nothing to do, I'd just flick that switch up and down...up and down...up and down....Then one day I got a letter from a woman in Germany...it just said, "Cut it out."

    You said it took a while to recognize him. Is it possible it was someone who looked a lot like your old friend and knew him was just messing with you? That seems a lot more likely than you being able to see ghosts.
