ha, i guess go-cart is the wrong comparison. but it's probably about as effective in driving the streets of houston.

Would you guys buy this? I think it's a little less than $15k. If I had to, I think i'd rather take the 37 mpg Yaris at $10k instead of this 40 mpg smartcar. Of course I would never buy either one...

These things are completely impractical in Houston. They don't have any acceleration and consequently make highway driving a nightmare.

That being said they're great for city driving and cheap. In fact, in the UK, they're about to start selling a version of the SMART car that runs on electricity. Maybe I'd consider buying an EV version if I lived in a place with lots of city driving.

I always think of Urkel's car when I see a Smart Car. I always think 20 clowns are gonna pour out of one any second...

When I went to Canada about a year ago, I saw a few of them darting around. I'd be scared to drive one around here where everybody thinks they need to drive a tank the size of a DeathStar in order to get groceries.

Like someone else said, I'd get a Civic/Civic Hybrid before getting this thing.

    -----------------------------------

Here's the Urkel Car (it really was the BMW Isetta and really was made) :

I dont know if anyone else went to their Highland Village Drive-o-thon, but me and 2 friends were going to get some food when we drove by and saw that they were doing a test drive promotion. So naturally we went and test drove the little suckers. Car has to be on the very bottom of "gotta-have" as far as cars are concerned. It drove awful, did not accelerate worth a crap, cramped interior, my left knee kept hitting the dash, and top speed is somewhere around 80? The one I test drove sold for 16k...lol. 16k for that thing? I'll take a Cobalt or Civic thank you.

    ...Supercharged Mustang or smart car...

Hmmm...I think I'll keep the Mustang, but only because I already have it...
