Biden has accused Putin of being a war criminal and I believe committing "genocide". Should the US be willing to recognie the International Criminal Court to put Putin on trial like was done with the NAZI war criminals?

Maybe we start debating this when the "Days without a war" sign hits above 365?

Otherwise we'll continue to play judge judy and executioner for a long long time,

It’s probably best reserved for those special occasions when someone like Hitler unites the free world against his atrocities. I don’t think it’s a good idea to permanently deputize an international justice team like this because who then oversees the overseers??? Who watches the Watchmen etc etc.

However the reason the US won’t agree to this is because you’d be handing countries the ability to potentially prosecute George W or even go after Obama for drone strikes.

I agree that the US will not recognize the Court because Dubya and Cheney would probably do no better than Putin. However, it would be a major step in international justice if the Court could do something about the war criminals from the bigger countries.

Sooner or later we will need more internatinoal law and cooperation to save humanity from eco extinction.
When all is said and done the disruption in international cooperation may be the greatest evil and danger due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Recognizing the ICC won't give us any opportunity to put Putin on trial. How would we arrest him? The ICC could give him some bad press in the West, but that's it.
