[Shams] Chris Clemons signs 3 year deal with Rockets

After this season.

 

Would not mind Porter on 2 way or sign to Vipers. But Rockets have a better prospect under their nose right now IMO.

I prefer Ray Spalding, either to 2 way or call him up for 10 day with Rockets.

Spalding same height, longer (7'5 vs. 7'0), more athletic/explosive, better rim runner, rim.protector, rebounder, roller and passer. Spalding also more familiar with Rockets system as Viper playing with Clemons, Clark, Harty plus very underrated jump shot/3 ball.

I didn't belive the latest Rockets are looking to trade Westbrook rumors but with this signing the writing is on the wall.

 

He is? So far he hasn't been.

 

But is he having fun?

 

My guess is another team was eyeing him, and his agent was pressuring the team to play or release him. That and I think they also learned from the House experiment to sign early if they can avoid having to bench a two-way player that was in the rotation, and needed because of the contract. However unlike House who was like the only guy over 6'3" on the roster last year to play the SF position, I don't think Clemons really finds a spot in the rotation this year.

I see this signing as just a way of securing a "break in case of emergency" PG who will never play if everyone is healthy. Which lends credence to my thinking that this was agent driven to keep from having to release him.

 

he'll probably get minutes on russ' back to backs. but probably not too much this year. but its a great siging for next year. we could lose EG or rivers, so getting a guard so cheap is great!

I think against the right teams he may find some minutes. now that we have three years we have more motivation to invest in him and also boost his value for a trade.
