    Just a comp I can't get out of my head. Searched the forum and was surprised I didn't see any other threads making this comparison, unless I just missed them.

    The size, the craftiness, the passing and rebounding, the, um, kinda slow defense... and most of all the creative, shifty post game as a go-to offensive weapon.

    I know Sengun models his game after Jokic, but Jokic is more physically gifted (especially wingspan/standing reach). Sengun's measurables are closer to Scola or Sabonis.

    I know some of our posters are much higher on Sengun than that, including some who aren't SOFs, but do I see a lot of similarities in their games. It's true that Sengun might be better than Scola was in the long run. He's already basically at prime Scola's level on offense, and he's only 20. Possible he ends up being like the better 2.0 version.

    Even if he does end up "only" being similar to Luis, I think if you end up with that level of player with the 16th pick in the draft, you're happy, and I loved Scola's game when he was here, so this comp isn't an insult at all.

    Shooting: Scola
    Pretty much everything else: Sengun.

    Scola's reads like a rebounding version of Bargnani, more fluid to watch for sure.

    Luis Scola had 31 dunks in his entire 10 year NBA career.

    Alpi has 71 dunks so far this season.

    Look at his pre-draft thread. I said it in just watching 3 mins of highlights.

    Did Scola dunk more in his younger years by any chance? He didn't make it to the NBA until the ripe old age of 27, after all

    I know the comparison has been made for sure. Scola also came into the league much older than Sengun (27 vs 19) and was a major player for Spain. At 27 he should be light years ahead of Sengun in the NBA especially after playing in the Spanish league which was a very competitive league. Sengun's career arc will obviously be much higher than Scola's just looking at where they're starting out and I think despite his physical shortcomings vs Jokic he will actually be closer to Jokic's numbers than to Scola's.

    I think Sengun is going to be the better player (and already is in some areas), but stylistically I had the same thoughts. The creative fakes and offensive skillset in particular.

    I understand the "stylistic" comparison because they both have crafty post moves. But Sengun is a much better passer, rebounder, shot-blocker, plays more above the rim than Scola did.

    I loved Scola.

    Sengun is more like a hybrid between Jokic and Scola. Shorter than Jokic, but more athletic. Similar size to Scola, but more athletic and better passer.

    Sengun's days are numbered in Houston.

    Sad reality, but Jabari Smith is going to push him out of the lineup if Miller or Wemby are drafted.

    If that were the case, it would be sad for Houston...possibly not sad for Sengun. He will thrive wherever he goes.

    I mean, the org has been stupid, but it's hard to believe they could be THAT stupid.

    Sengun in the playoffs is going to get melted on the perimeter when you need stops.

    Jalen, KPJ, Smith jr, Eason are all setup well to switch everything....

    Think it will be evident what the organization does based on the next coaching hire.

    Udoka= see Boston
    Nurse= see 2019 championship squad.

    We will know next year.

    While you're probably not wrong, there's no reason to break this kid's heart already. It's going to be tough enough for him if and when this happens.

    Who dunks when his middy and scoops are this?

    Too bad he was on these mediocre teams after the Yao era...

    Not 1 on 1. Jalen is one of the best in the league actually.

    They are both likeable players, I see many differences.

    Scola came as a 27 year old rookie, much more mature in his demeanor.

    Sengun is more talented for sure but Scola is a winner, a national team hero, Olympics hero.

    Scola isn't flashy, he reminds me of a better Tari Eason on Offense, hustling, with a midrange but a better finishing Latino Tari.
