Not sure about resetting. But I really don't want us to trade picks and young players for Giannis. Even if the guy can still play at a high level for a couple more years, I don't want to watch him play. It's ugly basketball. He's basically a Shaq type bully ball player that relies on physical dominance (strength + speed). Shaq started declining at around 32. Giannis is 31.
All you guys working up scenarios like Stone finna do something. He's treating this job like a republican senator, just a retirement gig/nursing home.
when you said “physical” and “bully ball” I got a text from Ime asking if you have a 1-800 number he can call late at night.
Fixed for all you guys. Play Bully ball and add some 3 point shooters. Amen, Reed, Giannis, Jabari, Turner. Potential good picks in 26 and 28. Bench or trade assets: FVV, Portis, Adams, Tari, GFS
Except for the Bucks, because they know they won’t do better than Sengun and good picks. Stone may also be dumb enough to do it.
2 months ago, Bucks would be all over this. Maybe, Maybe no now. few reasons I see it still happening: Sengun is still a young player, sell them on the 2 time all star bs. Sengun wears a lot of big clothing, Milwaukee gets cold so he could change the fashion world for Osh Kosh when he signs that deal.
want to see someone with a paying Chat GPT account dress Alpi up in a colorful Osh Kosh B'Gosh children's outfit
Bucks trade makes no sense. What you do is trade him to pacers for that pick, and Nebhard(although he is pretty much untouchable, you would need to send more in trade like jabari) If he goes this summer, its a draft day trade where rockets rebuild on a #2 pick. It only makes sense. Seriously but the truth is Sengun could be better than anyone in 2026 draft. I dont think a right now solution of Giannis and KD, 2 year window is what they are looking for either. Yet i could be wrong if they think the product they have cant get past spurs, okc, denver,Minny.
Honestly, as much as a bang on Alpi, it's KD that needs to go. Or at least the slouch. We might not win as many games but getting rid of KD would bring back something that seems to have been lost. Fun playing as a team.
No thanks, unless your goal is to ensure the Rockets have no chance of contending in the next few years. Kevin Durant is the Rockets’ best player and the closest thing they have to a franchise player. We need to stop anointing flawed players like Alperen Sengun snd Amen Thompson as franchise players. Unless either one puts in the work to learn how to consistently make mid-range (Thompson) or three-point shots (Sengun), the Rockets’ offensive ceiling is limited. Playing two non shooters together does not work offensively in today’s NBA. One of them comes back in training camp with a confident jump shot, or Stone should look to break them up for an upgrade that is a better fit. Finally, the Rockets from last year had no chance of achieving significantly playoff success in the difficult Western Conference any time soon. At least this team has a chance of making the Western Conference Finals, and that’s despite not having their starting point guard all season. Durant is a lot better than Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks.
I don't disagree with this. I would just add one more thing. We also need to stop betting/planning on our players developing the thing (3 point shot) in the offseason. We need to build based on what IS and not what we hope. I don't know what is easier to accomplish 1) Amen developing a reliable three ball 2) Alpi complaining about fouls, or 3) KD being more constructive of his young teammates and less of a B. Or maybe the young guys learn to see him for who he is and learn to not give AF.
It’s past the point for Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun to develop shooting range. Next year is season six for Sengun and season four for Thompson. Both have known this is a weakness since coming into the league, as have the Rockets. If I were Stone, I wouldn’t just trade them to move on. That said, both guys entire offseason program would be to take 1,000 mid-range and three-point shots a day. If they don’t show shooting progress, I would explore trades for them that alleviate the shooting and spacing problem the Rockets have when both share the court. As for Durant’s social media burner fiasco, if his teammates hated his guts, it would have fractured the team to a point the Rockets would be struggling to beat anyone. Jabari Smith Jr. in particular has mostly played better after that story became public. Having VanVleet’s voice more prominently heard in the locker room and practice will help next year, too. It’s harder for him to get everyone to listen to him when he’s not playing, nor can he be an effective buffer between Durant and the young guys.
