The Idea of this thread is to see if we can come up with a large group of players that did not make the NBA's all time top 50 list that diserve it more than Quitten.

The first player that comes to my mind is

Bill Lambeer. Possibly the NBA's all time leading villan. And a much better basketball player than Quitten!

I think the answer is obvious - hell no.

    Dominque Wilkins was robbed.

ooh I just of thought of something else. At this point, I would say Shaq does deserve it. At the time he was voted on, I dont' believe he deserved it. That was only his 4th season. What if he had gotten a career ending injury? I don't think that any 4 year player could earn it.

Anyway I think Shaq obviously deserves it now, but just not then.

Pippen is a monkey spanker...but he deserves top 50...

Go back and look at his stats those first three Bulls championships....and look at the defense he played in the last three.

I can't stand the bloke...but his achievements can't be denied.

    I agree with McAdoo.
Further a newer list would surely include Duncan. It would be so great to hear David Stern calling Scottie to tell him he's just been cut from the top 50! [IMG]

Its all about the Human Highlite Film. Nique was robbed man. Two others that come to mind (and I might be showing my age) is Alex English and Adrian Dantley

As painful as it is to argue on Quitten's side... he did win 6 championships, and was a great defender in his prime. He also was the originator of the point forward role, if I'm not mistaken.

As good as Nique was, he never won a championship or made it to the NBA Finals. Heck, I don't think he ever made it to the Conference Finals. Jerry Stackhouse scores alot of points, too.

I believe Magic was the original point forward.

Pippen one of the 50 greatest players?

another case of premature induction. He is not worthy.

That would be true if he didn't play guard...

Dennis Rodman should have made the list. He was the best rebounder in NBA history.

No he wasn't. Wilt, Russell, etc. were better rebounders. Rodman may have been the best "pound-for-pound" rebounder or the best for his height (which I'd disagree with, too, probably), but he definitely wasn't the best rebounder.

    Sam,

I was thinking more of who was the first point guard in a forward's body.

I think Russell was a little hyped, and you cannot compare him to more recent players. He was bigger than alot of the players of his time. Also, Bill Walton pisses me off when he b****es about how Hakeem shouldn't be the shot blocking king because Russell had way more before they took the stat. Hakeem was just a badass back in the day, and NO CENTER every played as good as Hakeem in his prime.

Teams have much better team rebounding than they did 20 years ago. Becuase of that we will never again see another 20+ rebound a game avg for a season like we saw with Wilt and Russell.

While I think Wilt would still get 13 to 15 boards a game I think Russell would be hard pressed to get more than about 11 a game. And of course I have hard scientific data to back me up [IMG] But I do think Rodman and Barkley deserve to mentioned with Wilt as the greatest rebounders of our time.

So far on the list we have:

    Bill Lambeer
Dominique Wilkens (I know he doesn't have any rings but if he had played with Jordan he would have 6)
    Shaq
    Bob MacAdoo
    Chet Walker
    Gail Goodrich
Dennis Rodman (for those that want to claim Pips defense...Rodzilla was better...period.)

And no Pip was not the origanal point forward...does anyone remember Robert Reid?
