What is the last really bad movie TL Jones was in? Maybe that cheerleading movie? Anyway, I kind of trust his choices, and I'll see this new sci fi.
Did I see Fred Armisen in there? The reviews would have to be extremely bad to keep me from watching this one.
His last 3? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanic:_Resurrection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_and_Awe_(film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Getting_Started_(film) I like sci-fi movies and I liked Lost City of Z and The Immigrant from this director so I'm sure I'll watch this one.
"We believe your father may be involved." Tommy Lee Jones playing the bad guy in space. It felt a little hokey to me. I just saw a trailer on TV and they seem to be promoting some good reviews by various publications. That's always a bad sign. lol
I was thinking the same thing, but the reviews have been great 84% RT/ 81% Metacritic. _______ ‘Ad Astra’ Review: James Gray’s Space Odyssey Is an Interstellar Masterpiece “Ad Astra” is one of the most ruminative, withdrawn, and curiously optimistic space epics this side of “Solaris.” It’s also one of the best. https://www.indiewire.com/2019/08/ad-astra-review-brad-pitt-james-gray-venice-1202169692/
You figure Brad Pitt and it has to be decent, but agree the trailer does it no favors. If there only goal is to accurately portray space flight that's not interesting enough. They are going to need more. There will be a mystery here obviously. The Father and Son will unite over something. Think a more interesting twist would be if brad Pitt is somehow the villain and TLJ is the good guy. That's not happening, so we'll just have to see how Jose Lima figures into this.
Still no stars in the background of those clips. You'd think after 50 yrs, Hollywood would correct Stanley Kubrick's Fake mistake.
56% audience review on Rotten Tomatoes. Biggest complaint seems to be it is boring. Someone said it cured their insomnia, though. But, it's visually spectacular.
Probably depends on expectations. This movie looks like adult Sci Fi like Interstellar or Contact. And a lot of audience expect whiz bang sci fi.
"Think about how dumb the average person is, then remember that half of them are dumber than that." -- George Carlin
The ironic part of this - very funny and on point - joke... is that’s not what average is. That’d be median.
