There was nothing objectionable in that statement. Even if the Rockets get Melo without giving up a major piece, we won't know how this team will mesh together. You can't even give them the #2 seed, much less say they are on the Warriors level. They will have to earn it.
If Melo and CP are at their prime, I'd say we have comparable talents as Golden State. But considering the fact that they are at the end of their prime, it's fair to say that we are still behind Golden State talent-wise even if we successfully acquire Melo. CP/Harden duo is about the same level as Splash, but KD now is on a completely different level than Melo.
Look, I'm a homer. I think the Rockets will win over 60 games for the first time and be a 2 seed, but it's not crazy to think they will take time to figure out how to integrate this group.
