It's stupid regardless. So what if it turned out to be real? Then you're starring in ads promoting arming 4-5 year olds. I understand his excuse, but it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go along with it if you're actually opposed to the idea. Best case scenario is nothing happens or you're able to warn other gun rights activists (neither of those things happened). Worse case is you get humiliated on TV. Worst case is you're actually promoting arming toddlers. Faced with a choice of just walking away and avoiding the possibility of promoting "Kinderguardians" even if it means you can't uncover a prank aimed at conservatives, I think walking away is clearly the better option.

You kinda answered your own question. These people are out of touch. They don't really know or care about who they represent, they just have their views and hope the louder they scream them the more power they'll get. That's why I doubt they'll even know what a Borat is.
this plus it was like 15 years ago plus it was less popular/less viewers/less people who know who he is in reality than it is in the mind of somebody who is a fan of the old show.
I'm sorry but I will always remember him for Talladega Nights, he was just amazing on it. Plus, TBS shows it almost every other weekend!
