This thread is meant to discuss the likely awkward dynamic going on between Ryno's camp and the Rockets. Not intended to be another dump-on-Ryno thread. The question is pretty simple: will he still be a Rocket at the start of season? Is this relationship still salvageable and do we intend, if unable to move him in a favorable deal, to install him back into the rotation? ....or is this relationship beyond repair and unlikely to be attempted? I'm asking for obvious reasons: this is now our second aggressive attempt to move him. Between the injuries and falling out of the rotation, I'm sure he's down in the dumps and would welcome a change. His confidence looks shaky, plus I'm sure he's sick of hearing people talk about his albatross contract or his season-ruining -12 in Game 7. For us, we're trying to contend and it's pretty hard to do that with 1/5th of our payroll tied up with a player that's unplayable against our biggest rival. My guess: DM has at least one "okay" offer on the table that's willing to accept if something larger doesn't materialize. I think the Ryno/Houston thing has run it's course and we won't try to bring him back. Thoughts?
Unless you trade him for Dudley + Chandler from Phx or something.. he still a pretty decent regular season (ie not post season) stretch 4. You can't dump him outright unless we attach a ton of assets so don't see how we can clear his contract that easy.
I don't see us giving up assets just to move him at this particular point in time, so I think he stays a Rocket until the trade deadline.
Of course, because he has no value at this point. He needs to play to build up his value then we can trade him.
he has no future in Houston...get him outta here trash for 41 home games and the playoffs, but getting paid 20 mil...what a joke How are u shooter, but pass up shots left and right? Smh We went up against GS with 20 mil of potential production just chillin on the bench...not due to injury, but due to being useless
Ryno is still playable in the regular season against bad teams, he's just useless against team that actually exploit their matchups.
If you want him gone just to be gone then you want the team to be worse just to be worse. Some of you act like your paying the 20m, but your not. He is a starter on bad teams. A rotation player on mediocre teams. Just not playable on an absolute contender.
I think Morey's going to find a way to move him before the season. I didn't earlier, but the OKC/Atlanta/Sixers deal changed my mind. The Kings are still a possibility and Morey going to make a big effort to make it happen soon, in my opinion. He often waits until around the deadline to make deals, but sometimes he surprises us. Harden's an example. Fingers crossed.
