Don't be overly critical of Rome. His job is to try appeal to a wide geographical audience and discuss issues from numerous sports. I will agree that he has not and probably never will acknowledge when he is wrong. Those items simply get swept under the rug. Rome's show is an entertainment broadcast first and a sports show second. This is obvious from how often the show gets sent off into some sort of tangent from the usual sports talk. His show is better than those new guys that come on in the evenings on 610. If Rome is about 50/50 when dividing his time between sports and nonsports, those guys are probably 80/20 with sports time being the twenty percent. My favorite thing about the Rome show is the consistency of the smack that comes from Jay Mohr. That guy is funny.
The only problem i have with Rome is he never lets players who appear on his show have it. I called in and said the Kenny Anderson was BFI (garbage) and he tried to deny it because Kenny was his boy and this was after he married the gold digging chick that got pregnant from the 1st MTV Real World Show. Rome, nock those who suck regardless if they show up on your show or not.

Rome should be all over that guy for not wanting to change from catcher to some other position in order to extend his career (ala Craig Biggio). Piazza (along with many others) has Rome in his front pocket. I can somewhat understand not wanting to burn bridges with these egoists, but at some point in time, these guys need to be called out for mistakes, bad playing, etc. For what all of that's worth, I still love hearing calls from Terrence from Sierra Madre and Kerwin the car chaser. It's a lot more entertaining than listening to my boss whining about deadlines, unemployment office, demotions, blah blah blah!
