    The comment she made could plausibly have been about anyone else who had put their hand on her mouth, but I think contemporary society is latently homophobic enough that a lesbian is probably justified in wondering if it was intentionally or unintentionally (ie could be construed as) "orientationally insensitive."

    your logic is that because of a history of something, a lesbian is justified for thinking Ripa's comments were homophobic.

    Accordingly, you should not have a problem with an American thinking that all Muslims are terrorists.

    DOes it make sense? No.
