Morey severely failed this offseason when it came to adding free agent players that weren't already on the team. When you really look at it he just really needed to bring everyone back and then add a good 3/4 versatile player that can help Capela on the boards and play good D.

How do you fail when the only option is to use the MLE? We were never realistic targets for any FA due to us having 0 cap space......

Rivers as a 2 year vet min is a huge win, While House won vs Morey, we don’t know if he had offers or not, 3m is more than reasonable if he is trending upward.

Cant have 30m in space like the year Durant went to GS...... without that bump, we are looking at chips

it isn't a fail at all. All you can do is ask the player if they want to play for your team, it is up to the player to decide where he wants to play.

A fail is not to ask at all

Was Morey lucky/ good enough to get a meeting with Looney just for formality sake?

Or did Looney think nothing of Morey and show him disrespeck by not even hearing what he has to say?

Not getting blows. If we still trade capela doesn’t mean we can’t get a center in return

    1. He failed himself and the city because he put all that Butler pressure on himself as well as Tad talking about fireworks and Tillman saying We will add 2 good veterans. All that could have not been expected by fans if they would have just shut the f up. That's the number 1.

    2. Overall i know we did good for the situation we were in but the outlook on our offseason is now shady due to the expectations we put on ourselves which didn't even need to be! All we need to do is tweak our philosophy and get Capela some help on the boards... assuming Faried isn't coming back.

We done run Faried out if town.....Morey doesn’t believe in backup centers. He would rather play an undersized PF at the position. GS always has 3 big men as did Toronto, but what do they know....Morey is smarter than them all.

He did bring everyone back. It used all available money to do it. Adding that extra player may happen, it's just going to take some maneuvering. Still time for that. I don't disagree with your assessment of what they needed to do, just not sure how you think they were supposed to get there with the resources they had.

They tried for a bigger move and it didn't work out. The last thing they need to do is panic. This is the proper approach, in my opinion.

Even if we got him we wouldn’t have played him over Capela; but how in the hell did Warriors get him for $15mil over 3 years!?!?!?

That’s ludicrous. No one was offering him $7 or $8mil per for 3 years?!?!?

I found this Q&A from "NBA sources" that I have consulted regarding the results of free agency for the Rockets so far. You're welcome for my insider knowledge.

Houston seems to be getting shafted, is it a bad city where no one wants to play?
No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

Is Harden a terrible teammate whose rep is turning away other stars?

No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

Did the media conspiracy hit job work to take the Rockets out of free agent contention?
No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

Is Morey incompetent and his ego and hubris led to free agents not signing here?
No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

Is Tilman Fertitta trying to implode his own $2B investment to save luxury tax dollars?

No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

Is this a sign that Harden is going to ask for a trade and the team is going to be dismantled?
No, Houston did not have the cap space to make a convincing play for non-minimum salary free agents.

There are 28 other teams in the league. Are we more like the Warriors, or the other 28 teams?

Also, the Warriors used an exceptionally lucky series of events to enable them to assemble the team they had for the past few years including willing discounts, ring-chasers, large salary cap rises, snakes, and bird rights.

Yes, my friend, it is! I believe the only thing this team lacks is a player like Looney who can spell Capela to prevent us from getting raped on the boards. MDA and Morey obviously don’t agree with that philosophy. Small ball it is....yet Gasol and Ibaka did just fine against the Warriors while our “small” lineup gave up critical extra shots that cost us dearly at the end of multiple games.
