Wouldn’t mind if we went the hard cap route especially if we can get 2 good pieces that we can actually play in the playoffs. If we sign shumpert there is no guarantee that we can trade him for a good rotation player or two by the trade deadline
I saw reports that we were going to meet with Looney on Sunday but never saw any follow on report. Did the meeting actually take place?
Was just wondering the same thing. Interesting how quiet it is on the Looney and McGee front after we supposedly met with each of them. Maybe some of these players are waiting on the Kawhi shoe to drop before making their decision?
I'd be okay w/ signing him with the intention to move Capela for a serious difference maker. He's not the athlete Capela is, but he really was more solid on both ends than Clint. Doubt we can afford this guy now...
Thanks, not sure what this really has to do with Capela. We need length/rebounding depth at the 4/5 position. Need to find good 2 way players somehow. I guess Hartenstein can fill a role off the bench but it would be nice to have a Nene type as a 3rd stringer to fill in when needed. Also, really need depth at the 4 as the lack of youth/height/athleticism killed us last year. Don't think we would have beaten Toronto last year even if we got by Golden State. Too many teams will kill us with athleticism and that is our kryptonite right now.
I guess the Rockets are fine with Hartenstein, in the end they have two young centers with a completely different skillset and they probably see no reason to use that kind of money on Looney when they can use it on a big guard/wing, which is probably a bigger need as today. Also, they might still find a cheap center like McGee or another guy if they want to add depth to the spot.
One matchup does not the player make. Capela is a prove player. Looney on extended minutes throughout the season? Not so much
IMO , that is when it mattered the most! Who cares about the regular season stats, when we needed him and his 84 mil the most... he disappeared!!
I’d take McGee for the minimum, and try to use our MLE on the best PF or wing possible or hold onto it for buyout season.
He disappeared for a few games in ONE series as did Curry, Harden, Klay, CP3, and multiple others. You are being incredibly shortsighted here, to the point of stupidity. You do realize the regular season matters as that's how you determine who even MAKES the playoffs right?
The market dried out a lot. My pitch would be the rest of our TP MLE 1+ 1 as Clint’s backup. We can offer him 2 years 5.2 mill total with a player option on the 2nd year. If he says no, same offer for WCS, McGee, Vonleh, O’Quinn and hope one takes it.
