This was my first guess when I read Bannon was not answering questions before the committee. Trump is going to throw any and everyone under the bus to save his own ass and then asses of his kids. And Bannon surely is aware of this. We'll know soon enough...

Week of Jan 7-13: What we Learned in the Russia Probe

Talks continue between Mueller’s team and Trump’s lawyers about setting up an interview with the president. This is despite Trump’s claims that it is “unnecessary” for him to give an interview. Mueller has also indicated he would like to call back several White House staffers who were interviewed early on to ask about additional information he has received. source

Mueller added a veteran cyber prosecutor to his team, potentially signaling a recent focus on computer crimes. source

Senator Feinstein released the Senate testimony of Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, without the support of Sen. Grassley (who the previous week had recommended Steele for criminal charges). source

    • Among the revelations in the transcript are that someone has already died as a result of the publishing of the dossier. Some speculate that this could be related to suspicious death of ex-KGB and FSB chief Oleg Erovinkin in January 2017, who was a key aide to Rosneft head Igor Sechin. Sechin is mentioned numerous times in the dossier. source

    • According to Simpson, Trump was doing business all over the former Soviet states of Georgia and Azerbaijan source

    • Christopher Steele insisted on contacting the FBI because he believed Donald Trump was being blackmailed. source

    • For more highlights of the dossier, see the three previously linked articles

A cybersecurity firm is sounding the alarm that Russian government-aligned hackers are about to attempt an espionage campaign against the U.S. Senate. The same ones who penetrated the Democratic Party are now targeting senators’ emails and documents. source

Trump administration has waived punishment for convicted banks, including Deutsche Bank — which Trump owes $130 million and has been fined for its role in a Russian money laundering scheme. source

A member of Trump’s National Security Council staff, Kevin Harrington, proposed withdrawing U.S. troops close to Russian borders to please Putin. source

In 2015 a conservative group led by Bannon shopped around a document tying Trump to mobsters. The document reportedly details years of alleged deals between Trump companies and figures in organized crime. source

Bannon has obtained a lawyer in preparation for an interview with the House intelligence Committee. Despite the obvious obstruction by Republicans on the Cmte., Dems can still release their own independent report on their findings. source

Rep. Schiff, top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, stated that he wants to call Ivanka Trump to testify as a witness in the Russia probe. source. This comes a week after we learned that Mueller would also like to interview Ivanka. source

A judge is reviewing Comey's memos, in order to decide if they should be released to the public following a FOIA request. The Trump administration & DOJ do not want these memos released as they would lend more credence to Comey’s accounts. source

Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has filed lawsuits against Buzzfeed News for publishing the Steele Dossier and Fusion GPS for creating it. source

    ────────

Of note: Eric Trump’s charity has been up to shenanigans. It has paid nearly $150,000 to Trump Organization companies in 2016. NY Attorney General is looking into whether the “charity” has been improperly benefitting the Trump family. The charity is also accused of diverting funds meant for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital to other organizations, including one particular one that stands out: Tikva Children’s Home. A non-profit based in New Jersey, Tikva Children’s Home cares for children in Odessa, Ukraine. There is nothing that publicly indicates a Russian connection (that I can find), but it seems odd that out of all the charities in the world, this one was chosen. source

Also of note: An investigation of condos Trump has sold reveals possible money laundering. For example, 1,300 Trump condominiums were bought not by people but by shell companies, and the purchases were made without a mortgage, avoiding inquiries from lenders. The article does not note any firm Russian ties, but I think it’s only a matter of time until more are found. source. More about the dictators Trump rented/sold to

So many coincidences. I’m sure that there is nothing to them.

Okay so I guess I was partially right last night. Bannon’s Subpoena from Mueller essentially blocked Bannon from talking to the House Intel Committee.

Basically Mueller knows that Trump partisans are using the power of the intel committee to learn what Mueller has on Trump and working with Trump to build a defense or to impede the investigation.

Pretty startling stuff. I think guys like Devin Nunes and co should rightfully be investigated for obstruction of justice. There’s no way that should be legal in our justice system.

Or just a topic studied in other countries that still have democracy and elections and a free press.

Hell if this goes down like it most likely will. You can take a ton of quotes from this thread and the other Russia/Trump thread and make a funny book. The slow progression of this is nothing with zero connections, to private Russia meetings, etc etc etc

When does this flip to an actual realization that this egotistical clown is finally going down though. There may not be a ton of comments from his fans on that day.

    [Educational Post]
...and now we have a text message from two key figures at the FBI, one of whom was a leader on Mueller's team, that says they don't believe there was any Trump-Russia collusion.

History will judge the liars who propagated the false narrative on Russia very poorly. The entire media lied their face off for over a year on this topic -- and drug our country through the mud -- all for their dishonest political gains. They knew it was a lie the entire time -- no integrity -- pure sleaze. And my how gullible all of you were to blindly follow along, despite absolutely zero evidence of collusion. Speaks very poorly to your level of critical thinking and intelligence.

    GOOD DAY

Most of us trust Mueller and will accept whatever he finds or does not find.

If you read that any differently, perhaps you need to read it again, for the first time.

Lots of Mueller updates: Mueller has already spoken with Jeff Sessions (US AG), Don McGahn (Special Counsel to WH), Sally Yates (acting FBI Director), Mike Pompeo (CIA Director), Dan Coates (Natl Intelligence Director), Mike Rogers (NSA Director), and James Comey (former FBI Director). Lots of folks that would be able to discuss evidence of obstruction of justice. And that Bannon will testify soon and trump himself will be interviewed.

Equally if not more interesting is Michael Flynn. It is now know that Flynn has testified multiple times, including a now discovered interview with the FBI that happened just after he was sworn into office and that he took two days before trump and the WH.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...interview-concealed-white-house-trump-n840491

Sally Yates informed the WH about that interview and the reasons behind it. So trump and the WH knew the conerns about Flynns' meetings with Russians, his lies about those meetings (and for good measure, that he withheld the meeting from trump/WH). And trump and the WH did nothing about it.

LOL... "just casual conversation..." This after firing the previous FBI Director for not having his back and easing up on Mike Flynn.

RNC chair: Question that disturbed FBI official was just Trump's casual conversation
