    Thief is highly underappreciated.

The list of roles he turned down, for various reasons, is pretty epic, and fun to think about how they would have been different: M*A*S*H, The French Connection, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Kramer vs. Kramer, Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, Love Story and Superman

Convinced my fiancé to start reading Misery two days ago. I thought of James Caan in that role as recently as yesterday. Surreal news today

    RIP

Anyone else hear about these really old celebs dying and think, man, they were still alive? That's a good run.

Read that he only got the role after a few others turned it down because the character spends a bunch of the movie stuck in bed. He was so great in that.

Not gonna let this get to Page 2 without mentioning his Houston connection:

As Jonathan E, he was the greatest Rollerballer in league history leading the Houston Energy.

    RIP

I hope he died in a less eventful and more peaceful way than his character did in “The Godfather”.

He was one of a kind. He will live on forever on film. RIP

I always think we are going to have a massive run on celeb deaths that were a big part of my love for film. Gonna suck…

Ray Liotta and then James Caan. I think God is trying to tell us something. I'd say that, if you were a big star in a mobster movie, then lie low until next year.

I appreciated his films and his acting, his career spanned almost 60 years with several awards. Rest in Peace
