Below is the first trailer for the new season which features voice actors replacing co-creator Justin Roiland, who was dismissed from show due to misconduct allegations. In an unusual move, the network is keeping the identity of the new voice talents (yes, there are two of them, one for Rick and another for Morty) confidential until the show’s season premiere. The Emmy-winning sci-fi comedy is coming back Sunday, Oct. 15, at 11 p.m. Like previous recent seasons, the new season will include 10 episodes. The news follows Roiland being ousted from the global hit — as well as stripped of his lucrative overall deal — in January after he was charged with charged with felony domestic abuse in Orange County, California. The charges were quickly followed by the revelations of Roiland allegedly sending abusive direct messages to a fan, a resurfacing of previous problematic interview comments and allegations of workplace behavior issues. In March, however, the criminal charges were dropped. Adult Swim has been long seeking new “sound alike” talent for the show’s titular characters. The network has assured the characters themselves will remain unchanged. Dan Stevens has been tapped for the lead in another Roiland animated series, Hulu’s Solar Opposites. An official season seven description makes a reference to the recastings: “Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!” Adult Swim points out that Rick and Morty was the top comedy across all of cable during seasons three, four, five and six. The series reached over 19 million viewers on linear broadcast in 2022 and remains a top series on streaming service Max. Rick and Morty has garnered two Emmys for outstanding animated program and is currently nominated for a third. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/rick-and-morty-season-7-trailer-1235598275/
I was surprised how well they sounded, I'm sure it'll take a little getting used to but it seems like its going to be minor adjustment....
I can't really tell. I'm sure I would be able to on a marathon rewatch. As long as the writing is the same, works for me.
Yeah, around after season 3... Then I'd catch a new episode here and there but kinda got bored. Maybe I'll give it another try.
Just watched it, fun start to the season. If I didn't know about the change, I wouldn't have even noticed. Looking forward to the rest of the season.....
Liked the episode but Ricks voice is very obviously different to me. Not to where it changed my enjoyment, but I can’t not notice it. Think the Morty replacement is a much better match.
I feel the same way but the other way around. I think as time passes it'll become less noticeable especially as the VA settle into the roles....
Just caught up to the spaghetti episode. I like the spaghetti episode. I don't really remember what's going on. Rick was a robot since day 1 or what?
Yeah. So like. He's not the OG Rick? Did we know that? I don't get it. I should rewatch the whole thing.
He made a bunch of clones of himself and robot Ricks to take care of daily tasks while the OG Rick is out trying to find his arch nemesis, Evil Rick.
