If I'm hearing this correctly, we need to win one more game (Tenn) and we get divison title?

Mariota is out for our game, so this should be cake.

We gain nothing from winning the Jags game, since we'll be locked up on the fourth seed regardless.

I say rest them if we win against the Titans and Colts lose against the Dolphins next week.

Why would you start this now? Too early. Wait for the Texans to win on Sunday (and the Colts lose) before you bring up resting week 17. If the Texans lose, I'm blaming you

or if we win against the Titans, and any 2 of the Bengals/Saints/Jets win next week as well, it doesn't matter what the Colts do..so we can rest them then too..

One on each side. Watt and Hopkins get a rest. The rest of the boys, work your ass off! We still have a winning season to fight for. Like the Giants in 2008, you want a strong push to the finish. Don't let your foot off of that pedal just for fear of injuries.

Ok thanks for clearing it up.

I believe the division record comes next for tie-breakers, so the jags would be out if we win next week. Colts would be tied with divison wins if they win out, didn't know how it breaks down after that.

These guys have a lot of pride and I don't see them accepting a non-winning record. Starters will play no matter what in week 17, IMO.

IF we have clinched by then, play Watt limited snaps to make sure he is full boar going in to the WC.

Would also consider sitting Hoyer at some point in the 2nd half.

But I think we need the reps and the momentum. This is not a well-oiled machine that can just pick itself up with no momentum.

No way! Colts can still win the division if they win both of their final games and Texans lose one. The Texans need to finish strong no matter what. I'm just glad you're not the head coach of this team.

If we beat Tennessee this week we can clinch with any 1 of the following:

    Dolphins beat Colts

    Jets beat Patriots

    Saints beat Jags

    Panthers beat Falcons

    Bengals beat Broncos

So yeah... if it's locked up I say rest the defense and play the offense. You might consider sitting Hoyer in the 2nd half, but the offense needs to find a rhythm.

Assuming that the Colts win, I believe that we will clinch with a win and either of these things happening...

    1. Any two of Jets (vs NE), Saints (vs Jax), and Panthers (@ Atl) win
    2. Bengals (@ Den) win

I still wouldn't rest the entire starting lineup in week 17 but it would impact how many snaps some guys should play.

My guess OBie would decrease the snap counts for his starters and only rest only those that are banged up and could use an off weak to heal.

    Nice jinx thread.

If Tenn and Jax win out, Jax takes the division

    This is great

Yea, I'm mainly worried about resting up JJ with his hand and all. Along with most our front 7s.

If we're rolling with Weeden, I wouldn't be against him playing the game to get more reps in. Not sure if that would work for us or against us when whoever we play has more film on him.
