He was 85. A rep for Conway tells Variety he died from water on the brain. In later years, Conway had success with his “Dorf” series of comic how-to videos in which he played a bumbling, diminutive Scandinavian character by standing on his knees. He also lent his versatile voice to a slew of animated productions ranging from “SpongeBob SquarePants” to “Scooby Doo” to the Christian video series “Hermie and Friends.” Over his long career, Conway was nominated for 13 Emmys and won six. For “The Carol Burnett Show,” he was nominated six times as a supporting performer in a variety or comedy series, winning in 1973, 1977 and 1978. He was also nominated as part of the writing staff for the show, drawing three nominations and winning in 1978. yeah, the Dentist and the elephant story are my two favorites. They say that he would stick to his scripted lines during the rehearsal, but during the actual live taping he would improvise everything. This is what caused the rest of the cast to crack up laughing because his lines were never what they were expecting.
In addition to the Carol Burnett show classics, he also starred in several films with Don Knotts in the mid 70's that were hilarious as well. Sad day.
I loved his comedy on the Carol Burnett show and spent a while just watching a bunch of clips of him trying to crack Harvey Korman up. Hilarious dude.
Just a funny funny guy. I loved "Dorf on Golf" as a kid. I would laugh my ass off watching those videos. Rest in peace, Dorf
