Report: Rockets had NBA’s lowest quality referees in 2022-23 season

    The Rockets saw 17 games with a bottom 10 percentilae average RefScore; the Lakers and Mavericks each saw two. The NBA assigned as many rookie refs in a midseason 20-game stretch for Houston as they did for the Lakers’ 82-game stretch (seven) — that is, the entire Lakers season. Yeah, it was bad in Houston.

    With Ime Udoka hired as head coach and veteran players such as Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks added in the 2023 offseason, perhaps the trend starts to reverse in 2023-24. One can at least hope.

    With that contract, FVV definitely won't be afraid to take a fine when it comes to calling out the refs this year.

    It make 100% sense from the league's perspective. Opportunity for the refs to shore up their mistakes while we make ours. A bad product is a bad product. No need to shine the light on bad referees on marquee games. Fans weren't complaining bc we were numb. It's an EASY decision for the league.

    Serious tanking team with the low tier rogue refs in tow was Tilman's master plan all along

    The league kept it balanced for Rockets because when they were legit contenders in 2018 the commish made sure to have the high tier rogue refs steal their glory

    idk how this stat works... but id imagine bottom dweller teams overall have 'worse officiating'... refs trying to keep game competitive... u let minor fouls go that u might call in a tighter game bc its already lopsided...
