Do you think conferences should start requiring every team to schedule at least 1 game against a team from one of the other big conferences? 1 game makes such a huge difference in college football. Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Iowa St, and West Virginia were the only Big 12 teams to schedule non-conference games against a team from the other 4 conferences / Notre Dame. Losing to one of those teams does not out-weigh beating a team from a ****ty conference. Texas has games against Notre Dame, Ohio St, UCLA, Cal, Arkansas and USC on the schedule which I am excited about but it sucks that there is such a big disparity with other teams in the conference. Yes, you can't guarantee that a team from a big conference is going to be good when you play them since the games are scheduled so far in advance but there is still a good likelihood they will be.

Scheduling division 2 teams (or whatever they are called) also is a huge advantage. I believe Tech schedules one every year (or it seems like it.) I know we can't lock those teams out from non-conferece but it would seem fair to budget how many division 2 teams a school can play in a 5 year span would be reasonable.

The computers do a good job of factoring in SOS but the human voters do not. Maybe the committee next year will do a better job of making those considerations when they decide all the at large teams for the 5 big bowls.

Finally the Big 12 has announced that every team will be required to schedule a game against a team from either the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC, or Notre Dame. It's sad that they also have to mandate that no team schedule more than 1 game against a team from a non-Football Bowl Subdivision opponent. I can only hope they call this the Baylor rule.

Crazy news for the Big 12.

Purdue's AD probably has his phone ringing off the hook now.

    *cough* Baylor *cough*

This is pathetically hilariously great. Sad but glad that they actually had to make a rule for this.

I wish the SEC went to 9 games in conference plus the 1 power five. The fact that it'll take Georgia 14 years to come back to Bryant Denny is ridiculous.

I'm glad that Bama schedules one good out of conference opponent each year. Bama plays USC (Trojans) next year and Florida State the year after.

I think the SEC had to make a formal rule a couple years ago as well.

I imagine so, you can't play Wofford every week.

Agreed. 9 conference games for SEC would be a lot more fair.

UH needs more P5 schools too - but no one will want to schedule us given that we actually have a shot of taken them down...

Selfishly rooting for Oklahoma to win the Nat Championship so we can get a shot at them at NRG for our first game next season.
