*sigh* In addition to making Chan Ho Park look like Cy Young, Gary Matthews has been able to turn into a combination of Torii Hunter and Jim Edmonds with that ridiculous catch. If we don't get something going soon, we're in trouble, cause the next time we'll get the top of our order up (at this rate) will be the 9th against Cordero...
A month ago two runs would have been an offensive explosion. wait until we get the 3rd. And win 3-2 with pitching and defense. Celebration time c'mon.
Come on Stros! Pull this one out....PLEASE!! Great game by Pettite! He pitched 9 innings giving up ONLY 1 Earned RUN!
That was one terrible AB by Everett... hopefully Viz can get the job done. EDIT: Elroy going with a very smart move... putting Viz on to face the free-swinging Willy T (especially when there are guys on base for him to drive in).
Pettite more than deserves this win. Come on Viz! BOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo! They are IBB Viz! BOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo! It's up to Willy "Hitless" Taveras.
Man... Willy fouled a fastall right down the middle, and then swung thru a hanging curve. You won't get many better pitches than that.
Willy has only 12 RBI's in the end of June? I know he batted 8th and leadoff, but come on, 12 RBI's in the end of june for a everyday player. With this pace he may have only 24 RBI's the whole year. Thats pretty sad.
WHOOO! Nice inning by Qualls....1....2.....3. Stros up to bat, time to win this one! The atmosphere in MMP sounds great out there today. I just heard a LOUD BIGGIO...BIGGIO...BIGGIO! Chant! BIGGIO AND BERKMAN just did their job, 2 on...NO OUTS. now for the other guys to get the necessary HIT!
It seems like Ensberg always gets interviewed by Lucas this year... and with the season he's having, its pretty justified. They should just turn the post-game interview into the "Morgan Ensberg show".
And Cristian Guzman and Sean Burroughs both have 13. Jerry Hairston Jr. has 7. Batting leadoff in a non-RBI slot for easily one of the worst offensive teams in baseball isn't going to yield may RBIs. In 2000, Luis Castillo had by all accounts a a pretty great year- 539 ABs, hit .334, had an OBP of .418, stole 62 bases, and scored 101 runs. He had 17 RBIs the whole year.
First of all, Sean Burroughs hasn't been everyday this whole year and neither has Jerry Hariston Jr. Guzman just flat out sucks this year hitting.
You got me there with Castillo I have to admit but Taveras needs to get his OBP up from .317. I guess as he gets older he gets smarter and stronger. He has only 12 extra base hits this year.
What the hell? Willy Taveras's last stolen base was on May 30. I guess his hamstiring is still hurting him. Remeber. in the minor leagues he had major hamstring problems and thats a reason he was in A ball for like 3 years.
