ESPN Trade Machine: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Please include explanations as to why the teams would do the deal, and what it would mean for the Rockets. It's a lockout, it's not like we've got anything better to do.
This is mine: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=43y3lps The Magic get arguably our two best players in Scola and Martin, plus a package of "assets," and they clear Arenas's nightmare contract. Also I'm fine throwing in draft picks or whatever it takes. I think this might be the best offer the Magic get for Dwight. As for us, we get a superstar for the time being, and our lineup looks like this: Lowry/Flynn Lee/Arenas Budinger/Morris Chuck/D-Mo Dwight/D-Mo I think that's a solid team right there, maybe good enough to convince Dwight to stay here when his contract is up. If he leaves, we tank one year, get a good draft pick, get rid of Arenas's contract, and it's a whole new start.
I throw in Lee and Lowry over Martin and Dragic - Dragic is competent enough to start with Arenas possibly backing up, and Martin's weaknesses on D are not nearly as exploitable with Dwight, making Martin perhaps the best 2nd option in the leage. Magic can start Lowry and bring Nelson off the bench, even possibly at the 2.
That's a thought. My feelings are this: I'm willing to give away two of the three of Martin, Scola, and Lowry. My preference would be to keep Lowry, seeing as he's still only 25 and had a great season last year, but it's honestly whoever the Magic like best. As for the contracts, draft picks, trade exceptions, etc. nobody will know what exactly the rules are until the new CBA gets worked out, but to me the guts of this deal seem possible and very beneficial for the Rockets. This deal sort of reminds me of another deal we've done with the Magic to get our missing superstar. Unfortunately that superstar couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs.
The two mentally incompetent posters above me obviously can't appreciate a good bit of speculation and thus post meaningless derisions against the OP.
Couldn't find it, at least not in the Rockets section. I was just looking for some friendly discussion.
This would only happen if the Magic somehow become convinced that he's not going to stay in Orlando, ala Deron Williams or Carmelo.
I think you missed the whole point. This is about the Rockets and they are not present in that trade.
I think i have a really good one now. Would really help both teams out a lot http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3d8lm5d
