We hold the tie breaker, we are up two games in the lose column, we win 3 more games, the worst that can then happen is tied record with the Yankees therefore clinching HFA.
Five more games to go, need win three or four games to have a HC for all games. NY likely is going to lose at least one more game, we are in a good shape.
5 games to go. We have to lose 3 games and Yanks/LAD to win all of their remaining games for us to lose HFA. So win 3 out of 5 remaining games and no need for scoreboard watching. But what’s the fun in baseball without watching scoreboard this time of the year.
Basically if Houston wins tonight, Thursday, and Friday... they will have HFA. Saturday and Sunday games won't matter.
With the late night Thursday game, the day of travel, and the subsequent Friday night game, Hinch has already stated that multiple players are planned for rest Friday night. Expect a AAA lineup. Don’t count on it for a W.
Someone might want to let Hinch know that they'll be off FOUR days next week (M-Th) before the playoffs start. I can understand a couple of players but with Miley pitching on Thur they better damn well make sure they get home field locked up all the way through the playoffs.
I think its more of a way to get the AAA guys in for one last game before they’re relegated to street clothes for the playoffs (ironically, they still dress in uniform though, even though they’re not on the playoff roster). I’m guessing he also hasn’t fully decided on Tucker vs. Toro...and a lot of that depends on Correa’s true status.
Let's just hope the Mariners have packed it in for the season. They certainly looked like it last night.
NY could lose another game today, then Miley can just play the game without worrying winning or losing.
orrrr he can worry about himself and trying to get back on track. safe to say he doesn't exactly have a flip to switch when he wants
Yes please. If it happens, I hope the loser of the Monday game is the ultimate Wild Card winner as they will have played 3 games leading up to Friday's game 1 of the ALDS and will have had to travel to 4 different cities that week.
I'd so like to see the Rays travel from Toronto to Oakland to Cleveland to Oakland (18 inning game) only to get sweep by Houston.
