I still can't stand the way he takes his jumpshot especially that biting the lip thing. So heck no! Besides we're fine at the front court except maybe with the help of another big body.
TJones won't work with what the Rockets are trying to do. The problem is that Jones is a slow decision maker. The Rockets want to quickly move the ball to the open man. That's not what Jones does.
If I were him I wouldn't come here. I would go to a team that can give me at least 20 minutes a night. The Nets i.e
Addition by subtraction was completed Tuesday. They don't need an X back. Y-intercept the plan? T Jones is at variance with winning.
He's a backup to the backup. His motor is so slow, he looks like he's walking to the basket (deceptive I know), but he also shoots the 3 ball poorly and is not an aggressive player most of the time. Just don't see how he can fit in here. I'd rather bring Onuaku up before bringing TJones back.
He is the PF version of Luther Head. Poor decision making, poor shooting, poor rebounding. "So,... what would you say you do here?"
He shot 52% FG and 44% from 3's as a Starter playing 30 minutes this year to go along with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Those are impressive #'s. Why was he waived and no team wants someone that can put up 17 and 7 and shoot over 50% FG and 44% from 3's? Is it because he's mentally ill?
That is literally the only knock on this kid. He was 18 when we drafted him. He grown up now, and has had some good games this year.
no, the 4 spot can be playe deffectively by about half the roster we need someone to help ariza to stop playing superstar minutes
I would say yes if only because the reasons that have been given are negated in the new MDA offense. In the past, McHale would actually have TJones in a playmaking position. Post him up throw him the ball and let him make something happen on offense whether it be the post or from the outside. MDA is head and shoulders above McHale in that he puts players in their best position to be successful. And how he does that is let James orchestrate the offense. Now TJones becomes another pick and roll option. He would NOT be called upon to create offense as he has in the past. So no more of that rumbling to the basket after he pumps fake from the top of the key. I can see MDA playing him strictly from the corners and in the P'nR. And then in only spurts. Where Tjones comes in handy is SOME rim protection when Capella goes out. He has shown in the past he can be that from the weakside. And now the court is WIDE open for him as well. No more playing off of paint hogging Dwight. Or 15 fake and shake Dmo. At this point if Bogut falls through, I wouldn't mind taking a flier on him in MDA's offense. Worse comes to worst... he rides the bench for low BBIQ. Our top 10 guys did well tonight. And Brown didn't even play (if he did I was gone by that time).
I'd be fine with it if other options didn't materialize. He wouldn't play much, but every now and then at least you'd have an athletic four.
This and other posters have said the same thing. The Rockets already have a solid 9-to-10 man rotation, and a lot of determining which big plays is matchup dependent. They don't have great depth, but 4 bigs is okay (4.5 considering that Dekker plays a lot of PF). I don't see TJones taking any time away from Clint, Nene, or Montrezl, but if one of them go down, then sure the depth can help. What makes Bogut a more desirable player is not just the IQ, but simply that he brings something different at the C position. Clint and Montrezl are athletic in different ways, but Nene is really our only large center, which gives us matchup problems against certain teams, especially if Nene isn't bringing it on any given night. Other than Bogut, I just want a player who brings something different for matchup purposes...anyone who has a specialized talent that the Rockets lack. TJones is just depth...he's not particularly better at anything than what they already have.
He's a big body he's not undersized, but PLAYS undersized. He's not Shawn Marion all-around defender, or Boris Diaw passer/shooter, or Amare finisher. T-Jones has decent all around skills but team needs a GREAT skill. Capela, Harrell and Nena for all their faults are great finishers. The ghosts of T-Jones bad D still haunts. Wish him well but Rockets are married to the 3 point barrage now. He'd bring back Brewer type concern just at the 4.
No. Not that I wouldn't mind it but we need a true big for Memphis or Utah who we could be playing in the first round.
