RIP https://www.cnbc.com/2022/09/08/que...s-longest-serving-monarch-dies-at-age-96.html Queen Elizabeth II was the world’s longest-serving monarch. She became queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 1952. As a young teen, she witnessed the horrors of World War II, as an aged monarch she saw the agonies of the coronavirus pandemic. She was the 32nd great-granddaughter of King Alfred the Great, England’s first monarch, who reigned from 871 to 899. The Queen is dead. Long live the King
Was beginning to think I would never actually live to see the day, almost an entire generation came and went with her still on the throne. Prince Charles barely made it. Don't really give a s**t about the monarchy, but the crowning of a new king is still an interesting thing to be witness to given how long it's been.
Condolences to the British. Regardless of what one thinks of the monarchy, it's got to be a shock when someone like the Queen dies. For the vast majority, the Queen was there their entire lives. A lot of folks probably feeling the way I was when Lennon died or the Oilers left town. The childhood fixtures always hurt when they are no more.
