This video from the 80's explains what the KGB was trying to do to us. It seems with the help the internet and social media they have succeeded even though it's not to spread communism.

They won because people are stupid and we don’t have a common enemy to unite us like during the Cold War. Also social media is cancer...

Won what? Capitalism always wins. Economics is a study in psychology.

This video is about the USSR, they lost Russia is no longer communist. Whatever Putin is now trying to win this past election has proved Trump winning in 2016 had nothing to do with Russia, it wasn't disinformation

Not sure how you can conclude that foreign efforts to subvert our elections through social media had nothing to do with Trump winning in 2016. How does the 2020 election get you to that conclusion?

People have been voting the same way since Reagan. The white vote was 57% this year. Same in 2016 same in 2000. Same in 88. It was 59% in 84 when Reagan won in landslide.

There are just more others now. I thought you knew numbers.

They haven't won but Putin has kept Russia relevant much more than what their economy or society should be. There is no definitive proof that Russian influence or interference played a direct role in 2016, 2018, 2020 or BREXIT there is definitely evidence that it did sow confusion and doubt. Putin has successfully undermined the idea of Western liberal democracy and one reason why we've seen the rise of authoritarians.

The real stupidity of the 2016 Russian story is that there really is no difference in the way people vote. The story of every election is turnout.

I honestly don't understand what this response, which I'm struggling to make sense out of, has to do with my question.

Next time they'll be doing so with Joe Biden's FBI Director, CIA Director, DNI, NSA, etc. all prepared for what he's going to try and do.

Yeah... good luck unless Biden caves and hires Mitch McConnell approved hires which in that case, Joe Biden's ACTING FBI Director, ACTING, CIA Director, ACTING DNI, etc. etc.

The 2016 election was no different from 2000. Voters don't change. So where is the Russian influence?

What does this mean -- "voters don't change"? Why do parties pour in tens of millions of dollars into campaigning if people are going to vote how they vote regardless? How do you explain that white, non-college voters have shifted dramatically to voting Republican since 1992, if voters don't change?

Subdivide that even further, and white men without a college degree have swung particularly dramatically. In 1992, they identified as Democratic or Democratic-leaning by 7 points. Today, the gap is 38 points, in favor of Republicans. That's a 45-point swing over 24 years.

I posted numbers. Where are yours?
I was very clear. Whites have voted 57% Republican since 88.

    Edit: every election since 88

At the end of the day, despite troll points, what did they actually win here? They definiely hurt us, no doubt, by installing the worst president in American history for 4 years, but what did they get out of it for themselves? A bunch of crappy wars in Eastern Ukraine and Syria?

Putin just gonna hide in his compound and keep poisoning his enemies. Ok, but seems like, treading water to me.

    @durvasa

As far as why do they spend money. They still need turnout. Turnout is what decides elections. Low Democrat turnout 2016. High turnout across the board 2020.

    No change in voting demographics
