From Alan Burge's Twitter (http://twitter.com/ajtexans): Apparently somebody called into the Might Gwinn show this morning, and said that they were putting their tickets to the Jags game in an envelope, driving to Reliant, and giving them to the first person he sees that can get them over to Bob McNair with a message that he was sick of it, and that he was no longer going to support the team until changes were made. A bunch of people called in then in support, and started saying how they too were going to do similar things, so Gwinn ran with it, and said everybody who does this should call back and give their stories about how the Texans reacted. There's another poster over on TexansTalk who is organizing a picket line before the Jax game, and everybody who wants to join is invited. Things are starting to get ugly for the boys down on Kirby.....
Bob McNair can sell the same tickets twice now! though it looks like the market price for Jags tickets is $16 on Stubhub...
Who is gwinn? And will it work? It always seems like everybody that ever calls a radio show is a "season ticket holder". Hopefully it does work, and it gets Bobby's attention. I think a billboard would be nice.
At this moment, I think we have the worst Congress in the history of the country. Things better change next session, or this country may have more than a historic election, they may have a historic revolt.
He's just another radio personality with a show here in Houston. And yes, it does seem like everybody who calls in has season tickets, but that somewhat makes sense. It stands to reason that the people who listen and call into radio shows are amongst the more passionate sports fans, so they are probably the ones who own the season tickets as well. I think McNair would have to be INTENTIONALLY ignoring the fans at this point if he doesn't realize what's going on. They have staff who's job it is to stay plugged into the community, and feel how the city is reacting. There isn't a happy Texan fan out there right now, and it's gotta be really uncomfortable in Reliant Stadium's offices right about now.
I think they should all go . . but take big *ss Signs I think the paper bags . .the Saints fans used etc. . . put more pressure on the owner This shows displeasure but big signs and protests at the game . . THAT IS PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT!!!! What are the rules about bringing signs etc? Rocket River
Awesome. Just getting the radio publicity alone for this would make it worth it. It needs to be brought to McNair's attention. BRING COWHER TO HOUSTON, BOB!
As much as I hate 610 and their Texan brown nosing I do give Gwinn credit for sticking with his opinions about how bad the Texans organization has been. It might get him fired or it might get him more ratings.
The fellas who were talking this morning, the play-by-play guy included, were anything but complimentary. They didn't give shots below the belt or call for "protests", but they were pretty frank in calling the team out for the freaking disaster that it is.
