Question for international BBSers: In the US we use 99 cents a lot in our pricing (sometimes 95 cents). For example, the HDTV I want is $799.99. I don't know why people just don't put $800. Does this happen in other countries? Curious as to see if pricing reflects cultural norms. I think Australia follows the same convention but S. America? Not sure about Europe.
no, in my home country(HK) the smallest currency is $0.1 and people rarely use it. And there are cards called Octopus to make small payment. Also there are no sales tax there. I think the reason we do the 99 cent thing is because the price will look cheaper at a glance.
