You guys im sure recall last years Mavs series. The go to play that absoloutely destroyed them was the Harden/Smith pnr which ran to Howard

Why not do something similar with Jones and when Dmo comes back. Of course neither is as athletic as Smith but as long as you make the defense commit to one side you react accordingly.

The disadvantage would be Jones finishing ability is comical next to Smith and Dmo

Positives is you will get at least one option between the two, and most importantly Howard will have easy scores. This is the most effective way to use Dwight instead of making him back down and throw up prayers.

Game 3 had a lot of alley-oops too.

But that was a playoff series where we identified a huge weakness in the opponents defense, and Carlisle couldn't against. So we just kept milking it. The weakness is called Dirk Nowitzki guarding Josh, with a little bit of Amare guarding Howard mixed in. But we did it against Chandler, too. He was caught having to leave Dwight a lot, because Dirk was so easily exploited in that series.

Hard to replicate that against all teams...especially without Josh Smith.

This is a better thread than most on here. It's thinking about solutions - not whining about the same problem every other thread that day is. Why don't you restrict your posts to the upcoming We Are Growing To Hate Hakeem thread?

    Opie,

Why not run this play with DMo going to Howard or Capela? DMo is the big we have that is our best passer and decision maker.

Yes exactly, thats who would be the biggest beneficiary of it. The player that can draw the defense enough to free the center, or if not, have great finishing.

Need Josh Smith who have a decent basketball IQ. Jones just don't seem to understand how to read defense yet.
