Yao, who has an entire country behind him, will obviously be the starter if healthy, but Okafor and Marc Gasol are much more deserving.

the starters are determined by the fan votes.
who cares if those two are more deserving.

How come Pau Gasol is voted as forward? he's been playing C, with Odom at PF.....

With the lack of C in the whole NBA...they send the center in best shape to be voted with forwards? and some mediocre player could make it to the ASG at the C spot?

Men, the rest of the team sucks, if we had a Van Gundy type of defense, those 24 ppg Scola is averageing would come in really Handy.
Plus, it´s our perimeter players that are killing us.
Plus, this is not a Yao vs Scola thread.
    Plus, stop hating.

    How about Yao's not-playing act?

The league should designate certain players as "swing" players (guard/forward and forward/center). So someone who's a guard/forward can be voted in at either guard or forward.

If that was the case, my vote would be:

    G - Chris Paul (NOH G)
    G - Manu Ginobili (SAS G)
    F - Kobe Bryant (LAL G/F)
    F - Dirk Nowitzki (DAL F)
    C - Paul Gasol (LAL F/C)

Best 4 teams in the West are representing in the starting lineup. That's what I'd like to see.

Do you think Manu's been playing better than Melo or that representing the best teams in the all-star game is more important than representing the best players?

Don't think there's too much separating the two, so I favor the one who I consider to be the best player on a 13-1 team (and a player I just enjoy watching much more).

If not Ginobili, I'd probably do:

    G - Paul
    G - Williams
    F - Bryant
    F - Nowitzki
    C - Gasol

Honestly, there are still a few other players I'd vote for before selecting Carmelo.

I'd actually agree with that lineup, Deron is a much better player than both Manu and Melo.
