not sure if this was posted before, just in case http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2008/07/pistons_dumars_nothing_imminen.html In addition to Denver, the Pistons might also look to Houston as a trading partner. Along with Anthony, the Pistons also have interest in Rockets All-Star Tracy McGrady.
This is kinda old news that is being brought up again. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=149928
I don't watch Pistons too much but whats so great about rip and prince to give up t-mac for them? I thought billups would be there most interesting peice? Can someone fill me in as i haven't kept up with the pistons the past few years?
This COULD be rehashed news, but it seems fresher, like Detroit is still mulling the possibility. That's kind of crazy. Obviously we aren't doing to do it. What are the Rockets excellent at? Defense! What do we need? Another scoring option! What do Billups and Prince bring? Someone who isn't as good as TMac at scoring and has arguably MORE apathy, and another inconsistent scorer who plays...defense! Not that having more defenders hurts, but I just don't see how a trade with Detroit improves our team. It just bolsters an already stifling defense. That's not going to win a playoff series.
Except Billups was a much better player than T-Mac last year? Especially on offense. Billups is a top three point guard and a top 15 player in this league.
Perhaps, but enough to completely completely shake up the core while still not fulfilling the striking need this team has?
Obviously, neither am I. If I just looked straight at stats he was barely a top 40 player in the regular season.
Considering T-Mac's deal comes off the books in two years, he's untradeable. The Rockets have a two year window to make some noise, before they cut ties with T-Mac, and go after a big name FA in 2010
Well look at it this way. How many times does Billups get double or even triple teamed during a game? The answer is never, unless he has a really small guard that he is posting up. T-mac on the other hand gets double and triple teamed at all areas of the court. That much attention alone tells you who is the bigger threat. On top of that he puts up better numbers than Billups. Billups is not a max player, T-mac is.
