why are the Texans running it so much this year? does it provide some sort of advantage over the regular shotgun with the RB next to the QB? and what happened to the I-formation? wouldn't fred jones come in handy in that situation?

    Never really noticed.

Maybe cause Keenum is running it and Schaub isn't? *shrug*

Plus we've been playing from behind a ton, so that probably means more shotty formation and less ground and pound.

Also I think you mean Greg Jones.

It's a growing trend league wide. It allows the QB to take advantage of the field vision and timing that a Shotgun formation would provide, while still having a back behind him for a traditional(ish) or even option-read running attack. Case is more comfortable out of the Shotgun as opposed to being under center so that's prob why we've been seeing more of it. But they used the Pistol with Schaub as well this season. Just another way to try and keep defenses from settling in.
