it took us years to finally replace Ariza, and we had to get rid of Capela to do it…in the end it didn’t even matter anyways because we quickly plummeted to the bottom of the league after finally replacing him
Tillman is walking caricature of the corporate monkey with tunnel vision. Everything is short sighted and nobody knows more than him. The dumpster fire of the last 2 years is quite hard to explain
@DonatelloLimestone LMAO once again at the reject replacements that came after ariza and cf's justifying them, prior to finally getting RoCO at the cost of CC
B-b-but Ariza went 0-12!!! Melo wouldn’t go 0-12 in a game 7. Ariza won’t be missed and is easily replaceable!
I disagree. It’s quite easily explained in my view. Trevor wasnt worth 15/yr and we didn’t have any other significant options to sign. And Cp3 looked DONE after that first year. We were wrong. It happens. But it’s really not hard to understand why at all — unless you simply just want to hate someone. Which is basically our society today. Find a person to blame and then hate him/her with all your passion.
it's literally amazing, a professional sports organization the Houston Rockets have one of these casual loser's from cf's as the actual owner who makes decisions on building the actual team. Correction, in this case dismantling
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ariza leave to sing that massive contract in Phoenix while hoping to be traded back to us at midseason?
sounds like fan fiction Tilman wasn’t trying to add salary to the roster anyways. He would ok a trade for someone he wasn’t willing to pay?
you mean adding ennis, mcw, chriss, knight weren't the moves to replace ariza?!?! but cf's said these were no brainers.
Ariza left because he was not given due respect and no willingness from Rockets FO to show interest in him, so he was basically ignored and he chose the destination where he could get the most money. Ariza on record mentioned that he didn't like how Harden was treated special while ignoring the role players. https://spacecityscoop.com/2018/07/25/rumor-rockets-superstars-trevor-ariza/ https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/2018/07/24/houston-rockets-trevor-ariza-superstar-treatment/
I actually liked Shump thinking he could be like a 8-9th spot minutes guy with playoff ship experience. But he ended up having to be the 6th man because everyone else just sucked that bad. and they had to ship the scrubs they picked up to replace ariza to get him. ironic. And of all teams facing a dynasty GSW team with this lol
I think we should have kept Ariza that year since it wouldn't have costed us any assets. But, 2018 Ariza must have been taken by the TVA because we haven't seen him since then. Let's not act like he been locking people down like he did when he was here.
I mean since 2018 he got multiple deals since phx. I'd say he's done pretty well. in fact he made more money in the last 3 seasons then his rockets tenure here before he left. so he was still pretty coveted for someone that has done nothing apparently per cf's. and he continued to be a solid asset in this time frame. He also just finished the year being picked up by Miami as a starter at 36
CP3 speaks to Ariza’s impact going far beyond locking or not locking people down…he was the glue this is the 2nd time CP3 alluded to how incredibly vital Ariza was
Well it's too late now. But while we're here still bemoaning the past, let's highlight even more how awful Paul's 2018 injury was: no hamstring injury, the Rockets win the title in 2018. Regardless of what happens in 2019, he's probably still a Rocket in 2020. Assuming he's "rebuilt" his body and maintains health, he's still a Rocket in 2021. So there's a decent chance that not only was 2018 a missed opportunity at a championship, but 2021 could have been as well. So in the end, yes should have run it back, but like you've mentioned in other threads, lots of blame to go around: Harden for being a stubborn diva, Fertitta for guessing wrong about Paul's health, Morey for not doing more to convince Fertitta to stand pat, D'Antoni for not having a way to incorporate better rotations and ball movement other than Harden ISO and yes even Chris Paul for not taking care of his body in 2018/2019.
